My question is "what crimes did these men perpetuate other than self indulgence?"
Aren't rapes ,robberies, thefts, violence the real crimes?
My point is "how does this type of expense[the surveillance costs] benefit me?"...middle class tax payer not affected by drug use.
The crimes are against life & property. When a guy[perceived criminal] pumps poison into his system he's basically doing us all a favor. However, the police spending all their resources on preventing them from killing themselves under the guise that, somehow the next time you're a victim it's because of somebody's desire to separate themselves from reality really just doesn't pan out for me.
Stealing and killing and destroying were going on throughout history with or without the drugs. So shouldn't that be the target? Criminals that hurt others. Is it really a crime to hurt yourself? Then you better watch out. That Marlboro and cheeseburger may soon be a no-no too. Read the healthcare plans floating around.

because the drugs are making people stupid.one realizes that your kind cannot perceive this, but the police are making preemptive steps to save future generations from living on the streets, crime, ect, ect.further, one has to realize, the majority of americans are tired of our tax money going to house people that won't work, tired of feeding people that don't work, and tired of subsidizing those drug dens for their pleasure!period.

That's a pretty small world view. Not to mention a fascist totalitarian one at that.
The police are saving whom? They kick down a man's door after violating his Constitutional rights over and over to collect evidence. They may shoot and kill him for the remote in his hand. If he survives, he sees his puppy gunned down for barking a threat at a public official, his wife charged with accessory or thrown into the streets as the property is seized as drug booty [even though the guy has worked all his life to pay for it],the kids taken by DSS and thrown into a sexually and mentally abusive system.
So. please tell me sir, Who did they help?
This drug war is as phony as a politician's promise. It's nothing more than a back door into a police state.

Not failing to mention this person shows their prejudice. In a nutshell you said..."everyone on drugs is on welfare".
I got news for you. They don't seize property from people that won't work...i.e. welfare recipients. People that won't work don't own property.
Pre-emptive steps are unconstitutional. There must be a crime against person or property. Otherwise it's door to door searches just like the british.
I guess you don't mind this cop in the paraglider that flies at chimney top level searching property in Cabarrus County. I do. because, my property is private and that so called drug made by God and unadulterated by man isn't our drug "problem" to start with. The drugs that need to be dealt with can't be found from a paraglider...and then they need toi be dealt with at a distributor level.
I guess you want me to believe that a welfare recipient has the power and money to buy cops and bring the stuff into this country. Rich, well connected business men bring those drugs into this country. Not the back of some illegal mexican.
Uneducated, blind, undone without Jesus Christ ignorance is what fuels this drug war. It kills, steals and destroys. In my Biblical world view that's satanic.

well, talk about narrow minded and mis quotes.wow, drugs are illegal,as per the vast majority of americans wishes, not by your limited assessments!what you can do,is run on the pro drug dealing ticket, and see how many votes you get,my learned minority friend.
i do agree the actual war on drugs should be done where they come from, but it in no way excuses dealing at home, period.random stops, wrong,we agree.random searches of any kind are wrong, and illegal.police are not supposed to have check points,or even pull you over for thinking you don't have a license, but they do,and lie in court.our constitutional rights have been under fire since nixon, reagon and bush sr.accelerated the process.
but none of that excuses dealing in illegal narcotics.get a job, find something legal, but drug dealers are one of the lowest forms of life, preying on people that cannot control an addiction that ruined not only their lives, but every one around them including the children.the only narrow view i see is yours, limited to your ideals.
go to the salisbury va addictions clinic, and spout that around my comrades,if you have the balls!many are at their last hope for recovery and a normal life while an idiot like you makes drugs busts about the rights of drug dealers.wrong again,it is about the rights of americans that demanded tougher laws on drug dealers selling in their neighborhoods, innocent children getting killed in the cross fire, because you morons are too stupid to see the ripple effects of your easy living.
yes my friend,it is a war at home, and no matter whom the president is,honest hard working americans will never give up our right to own and bear arms while drug dealers runs around with semi and automatics.
hAPPY HUNTING SON.
