Why must we be constantly reminded of this person? Just let his term wind down so that we may fix our mistakes and forget.

Still no comment on the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas yet? Imagine if George Bush had been on a lavish holiday and not bothered to address the American public.

I'm no fan of any of the past 3-4 Presidents and neither political party, but one can't not notice the dichotomy in press coverage. This writer has this epiphany: "a president's day...is not without official duties".

Yet much hay was made of Bush's time in Texas, calling it all vacation time when it was clearly fully operational as the 'Whitehouse West' with a full load of duties from the crack of dawn to late at night, meetings and even foreign visitors ongoing the entire time.(I get far more work done when working away from my office--anyone would get more done away from the D.C. madness.)

No President _ever_ gets time off. Watch how quickly they all age in 4 years.

There is no holiday for the PRESIDENT!! It's not like he's been doing much to help this country. All I read about is him taking vacations or flying to other countries. We had a horrible 2009 and 2010 is going to be much worse. Wonder how he sleeps at night knowing that people are starving/homeless. But hey, let's not ruin his vacation time with our trivial problems.

...and our traitorous press needs to hold his feet to the fire...they refuse to do so and therefore are just as traitorous as this 'ALIBABA' S.O.B.!!!

I don't see a dichotomy in press coverage over Obama and Bush vacations. Those who dislike Obama will make an issue of his vacations just as those who disliked Bush made an issue of his. Most sensible people realize that any President is never off duty and their work continues even when they are not in the White House. It may just seem to you as if Bush had more negative vacation press during his term because he took more vacations. Not the press's fault.

It's clear from what Napolitano has subsequently said, that she was speaking abut how the incident was handled AFTER it occurred. In fact, in looking back at what she said, just after she says "the system worked" she specifically mentions the response to the event. While I am somewhat sceptical about a "system" that depends in large part on citizen's tackling terrorists and putting out fires I think we all realize that some terrorist incidents will come down to citizen's being aware, taking action, and maybe plain old dumb luck. We can't depend on the President, government or watch lists to catch every terrorist. I know this will just be another in a long list of things blamed on the current administration by those who have never supported it, but at least this event had a better outcome than 9/11.

no need for police as long as you have a court system to take care of crimes after they happen.

Wow!

That's great. I hope you give every politician the power to be judged mostly on not what they said but what they "subsequently" said.

That seems kind of important for people like Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, Van Jones, The obama czar that supports sexualizing children, the obama czar that worships murderer Mao Tse tung, Michelle who was never proud of her country and on and on and on.

But it's not what they said. It's only what they SUBSEQUENTLY said.

Great.
