Kudos to Terry Ryan, this is a very well worded and phrased piece of journalism. Hawaiian culture is resplendent with much astronomical detail, we have Maui's fishhook in Scorpious, the Pleaides receive special mention in ancient chant, the noble ancestors were dependent on astro-navigation to arrive and set sail from Hawai'i nei. Without taking issue on the spirit of this fine article, it is Hawaiian Nationals who are since 1893 now under house arrest in the land which is their birthright, they are NOT Americans, they ARE Hawaiians. From Galileo to Copernicus in 1530 with idea the Earth orbits the sun, followed by Kepler in the 1600s with ellipses for orbits, to Einstein and Hawking, we owe our debt of gratitude to them all. As Newton said "We stand on their shoulders."

"Mauna Kea is part of the ceded lands. That means it legally belongs to the Hawaiian people. Ceded lands are administered under a trust by the University of Hawaii for the benefit of native Hawaiians."

Actually, ceded lands belong to the State of Hawaii for the benefit of the people of Hawaii, not just native Hawaiians.

Although the trust is for the benefit of all people in the state, including native Hawaiians, the University of Hawaii is also one of the five named parties in the trust.

-A small circumpolar comet Yi-Swan is presently visible at 8th magnitude, on April 23-24 it passes 1.2 degrees South of the Double Cluster in Perseus. It was discovered by a Korean amateur astronomer on last March 26th, no tail visible at this time, so if you do see one let us hope it was not the "tail end" of the recent failed rocket launch.{Haw-Haw]. Clear skies!

-On the contrary friend it opens up a can of worms, as ceded lands equates to stolen lands. There is no instrument of transfer of private Crown Lands, no transfer of Certificates of Titles, Royal patents or otherwise of any property whatsoever. On July 7th 1898 Hawaiian Nationals never transferred any property whatsoever to the so called "republic of Hawaii" or their contract partner the de facto U.S. government, therefore no property ever became allegedly "ceded."

You pray to your rock, I hit you in the head with it, see if prayer work. Supreme Court ruling quite clear. STATE OWNS LANDS, gfoadb.

-Where does it state the fake "state" has Proper Title to ceded lands? fee simple is not Proper Title which requires signatures of consent in writing by both parties per the Statute of Frauds, there are no signatures. Attorney Bennett attempted to use the ploy of the Newlands Resolution, back in 1988 under the Reagan administration SCOTUS ruled that it was unconstitutional to use the lie of the Newlands Resolution. Look at the recent SCOTUS ruling: "We have no authority to decide questions of Hawaiian Law or to provide redress for past wrongs except as provided by Federal Law." The state therefore does NOT have Proper Title, the truth is immovable and will not be corrupted.

-Actually I was born in London and therefore hold a British passport. These islands are collectively termed "The British Isles." As a gesture of goodwill Kamehameha represented the flags of both the U.S. and Britain on the Hawaiian Kingdom flag, we appear to have short selective memories about reciprocating goodwill in kind.
