The unanimous U.S. House Republican vote against the Obama administration's stimulus package should make all Americans quietly proud of this courageous adherence to principles. Full Story

I don't buy what the democrat and obama are shoveling. What they did was write a stimulus package without the input of the GOP and passed it. Some democrates didn't buy it too, but it passed. The interesting part is it passed without much people knowing the full content of the stimulus package.

I believe in doing something that would make a difference and bringing our country in a right direction, not doing something for the sake of doing something and have it wrong and having to pay for a rushed legislation full of special interest stuff that may not stimulate the economy.

Obama is trying so hard to convince me that all this is for my good, but I am having a hard time swallowing his sincerity and excuses. This is a far cry from a man making all these promises before he got elected. People bought into him and believed in him, all he has to do is deliver. The stimulas he promised dwindled a lot. The perfection and change in government is still to be desired.

He had some mighty hard criticism of a lot of people and set some high standards, that he can't even match.

Add to it, he pushed it so hard they rushed to get it approved and then, it SAT on his desk for 4 days...they might have actually READ the thing in those four days rather than just follow the lemming in front of them.

Typical idiot response. There is a 100% chance that the Gross Obstructionist Party members already knew that they were going to vote against anything that Obama put in front of them since he was elected last year. The Republicans have been against virtually ANYTHING that the Democrats have been for since the creation of their party.

John,

Thanks for the morning hysterical laugh fest. Republicans adhering to principles?!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! They are the most UN-principled group of slugs I have ever seen. Power and re-election are their only two gods and they don't give two hoots in hell about this country. If they can destroy the Democrats and make Obama look bad they'll do it and the country be damned.

Dear John:

If you speak for your generation, I am frightened.

I hope other readers will note that in your world, principles come second.

For truly what your words do is disparage, putting "Principles", including the intelligent conclusion that the stimulus package will only stimulate government corruption, greed, patronage, and pork, in second place to the desire (although I suspect your generation calls it “need”) for a free handout.

That is not a choice I believe has any but evil consequences. After all, it is not you who has worked and studied and sacrificed enough to amass large savings you can now reinvest in the stock market to get us going again.

And the one thing America has in over abundance are people who on the one hand feel their advice concerning how to spend other people’s money is brilliant, while sticking their other hand out for some.

How about you mortgage you home, get more education, start a business and offer us all good paying jobs instead of whining for someone else’s money?

Then we can listen to you.

My analysis of the bill is that it will not work, will not prevent a deepening of the recessions, will not help Americans who may lose their homes, will not keep jobs from disappearing. According to my evaluation, or principles if you may, the Republican vote against the "stimulus" bill was the right thing to do.

I wonder what principles the Democrats used to vote for the bill. Principles in favor of sex ed, constructing trails etc. which will not effect stimulus on the economy? Seems like the Democratic principle is to burden my children and grandchildren in favor of reelection and paying back the unions that elected them.
