My heart breaks for this little girl and her family.

I have some serious doubts about this actually happening the way the man said it did though. I realize I wasn't there, so I can only speculate, but...

First off, safety or not, wouldn't you have to cock the gun to get a bullet into the chamber? I just don't see a 19 month old having the dexterity to do it. I have a 2.5 yr old who's as smart as they come, and I don't think she could do it. Then again, in my opinion, it takes a pretty mentally challenged individual to leave ANY gun where a toddler could reach/ play with it.

Also, the local paper printed that he went to get/ tell the mother what happened BEFORE calling 911. I can't even comprehend the mindset that action would take.

I want to say I hope justice is served here.. but since nothing can possibly bring that little girl back, it's just not possible.

There's just something so very wrong with the whole story, starting with "what was that little girl doing in that situation?"

Exactly, but they have found that it didn't happen the way the suspect said it did......The question that is bothering me is what the hell was he thinking when after the shooting, before calling 911, he went to Taco John's to tell the Mother and called 911 from there. It's a sad world we live in.

As the story unravels, but not very much, I just have to know what is going on in our neighborhood that requires us to keep a loaded pistol (shell chambered even, apparently) quite that readily available.
A little bit of gossip going around doesn't paint a very appealing picture of the person being held responsible for this bad situation. Just hearsay, though. For what it's worth.
I wish there were more details available.
