Yep, Zippy's got too expensive and the quality is not worth paying for. Is it something like $8 for a Zip-Pack? I can make at least 3 at home for the same price. Stopped going to Zippy's for at least 7 years. I think the people running it now think like corporate business people. They're only worried about the numbers but not the quality of the product and service provided.

I can get a better meal at Rainbow's Drive In. A mixed plate for $6.50. Can't get any better than that. That's why this place is busy. Zippy's food is bland and way to expensive and this is the reason for their downfall. Zippy's need to get back to their roots and adjust to their old days.

I like Rainbows for sure. But you can't take it on the plane like the Zip Pac. Of course, it would be nicer to stop off at Shirokiya's on the way to the airport and grab a bento there...maybe I'll do that next time.

The portion of chicken katsu plate take-out at Zippy's Kahala is huge. It comes in a big rectangular container, not round plate or square. I will always go there.

Ever look to see how little chicken is hidden in the fried batter? Don't fool yourself because it is the fried batter that makes the pieces look big. Not healthy either.

Zippy's priced theirselves out of the fast food category. They'll have to improve the quality and innovate the menu to keep business up.

I think the only the real edge Zippy's got over other competitors (i.e., L & L) is that they're open 24/7.

When we come to Hawai'i we eat at Rainbow and other family one location local resturants..not Zips! When they came to Maui, like Krispy Cream Donuts they should have known it's a very fickle group that will purchase every week/month! Plus..can you spell HEALTHY?

I'll agree with the people here on Zippy's menu, taste, and kinda pricy. However, this article is on lay offs. Not their food. Seems like everday we hear of a business closing or laying off a big amount of people. Zippy's, Starbucks, etc. are not small potatoes, they are big franchises. I'm currently unemploy cuz our company got hit as well. I fear it's gonna get worst, especially in Hawaii. So, let's not criticize the food and have some sympathy for those who lost their jobs.
