Kathy Kealoha, director of the Office of Environmental Quality Control. So on top of her high paid position and I'm sure a bloated staff, she needs a council to what? Do her and her staffs job. Disband it and direct Ms. Kealoha to start doing her job.

The council screwed up the Superferry issue after the fact. They inserted themselves in issues when they had no business taking positions. Gary Hooser used them to oppose Superferry and they fell for it. My feeling is they are part of the problem, not part of the solution. So submit your letters of resignation. We are better without you.

The governor's actions are inexcusable. Like George Bush, it seems clear that from the start, Lingle intended to ignore the law when it was convenient to help her friends try to railroad their projects through by ignoring state law. Lingle and her cronies have no respect for the people of this state, or for the laws which we all fought so long and hard to protect these islands from bad development and business ventures. Smart development anticipates potential problems - usually through completion of an EIS - by identifying and mitigating problems before they are given the green light by government agencies. Look at what happened because Lingle insisted on steamrolling ahead, not just with the superferry but so many other things. Poho, all the taxpayer dollars wasted on fixing the harbors, etc., to let her superferry friends off the EIS hook. Like Bush, we can't wait until her term of office is OVER!

This is good news. They quit without having to be fired. If you make lame recommendations in a private sector firm, nobody will listen to you or fund you either. Could this be a new trend in government?

Glad you're leaving, Robert King.

Check this out. King claims that the revisions (to proposed rule changes) were the result of "several years and hundreds of hours" of work by the council and state employees.

There you have it. Several years and hundreds of hours of work by state employees, really means that the same amount and quality of work could have been accomplished in several months, substantially less hours. Sitting on your _ss for several years, punching the clock, don't mean you're productive.

Take a hike King, and don't let the screen door hit you on the way out to "going green," you granola-eating, dolphin kissing, whale harasser.

Everybody knows the State workers had it in for Lingle ever since she won 6 years ago, frustrating meaningful reform to the bloated state worker ineptitude.

Half of you idiots responding have no idea what the Office of Environmental Quality even do. But yet you make a comment. They have very little money and hardly any staff, yet they have to review every environmental document throughout the islands. If you took the time to see what they do you would see that they look at a lot of documents. Ignorance is bliss - some of you must be very happy people.

Funny you shoul use the word "railroad" because thats the same thing Mufi if soing with his railroad. Giving the work to his buddies and letting the poor old taxpayers pay the bill. Another quote, "bad development and business ventures" you mean like the aformentioned railroad and The Boat. Just a waste of tax dollars. Come on Mufi, stop lining the pockets of your cronies!

What if somebody had LISTENED to the Council? Would our Islands maybe be a little bit easier to live in, have transportation for families interisland on the ferry, maybe a little cleaner here and there too?

Environmental impact review is actually GOOD for business - think "sustainable" and allows all to have their voices heard.

Without knowing all the politics that are of course NEVER reported, I can just say "thanks" and "good luck" to the Council.

Big John from Hawaii Kai- You must be a tree hugger. Kealoha with her big staff of "four people" fought hard to get back in August to get our carpenters, plumbers and trades worker jobs back when the Environmental cry babys blocked them claiming they required environmental assessments. We protect our land and take care of it. If you had a clue or maybe a real job you would know that all the Local Unions support Kealoha. You and the cry babys should go hug some trees and let us do our jobs and support our families - let me guess, you werent born here either I bet....

Dir. Kealoha has only a staff of four people and the OEQC has nothing to do with the Env. Council that only meets one day a month. The Env. Council does not do anything for or with OEQC at all- since you don't understand any of this, you shouldn't respond- you sound so stupid.

Every OEQC Director from the office's inception has placed on the Council as a member, it is by statute.

Don't say that Big-John from Hawaii Kai is a tree-hugger because he makes us sound stupid.I am proud to be a tree hugger. I work with OEQC a lot and they are good people. Kathleen Kealoha actually doesn't need the Council for anything you idiot. The Council members have a very different job and they are dedicated and outstanding members of the community. I hate when people comment and they have no clue what they are talking about.

Most of you don't know what the hell you are talking about. So typical of so many in Hawaii just lip and do nothing, such small minds we all have. I call it the "Plantation mentality" its so deep in our culture, we just sit around and bitch and bitch and do nothing to make a difference. Well Kathy and the counsel members have and do take time out of there busy days to at least put there month where the action is and try to make a difference.
