Born and raised here in Hawaii and now residing on the Big Island, I am all for the Super Ferry. Growing up on Kauai and understanding the need for additional and alternative travel inter island Kauai will most definately benefit from the Super Ferry. Many feel that the Kauai protesters are creating a "Fear Buzz" to gain supports against the Super Ferry. I know I do. The EIS should not be done before we actually begin the Super Ferry Service. An EIS will find only what the survayers want to find and say about the ferry, and would not reflect actual impacting items unless the avenue is in real time explored with the Super Ferry running. I am not saying that the Super Ferry can or will do no harm, but there are elemental risks that we need to take and responsible actions must be considered, which I feel as do many others have been explored. For Pete's sake if the Super Ferry kills a bunch of marine mamals, and invasive species do propagate of the neighbor islands, as well as increased crime and drugs and it can be clearly demonstrated that it has done so and checks and ballances are not lived up to the ferry will fail anyway.

Yeah, what's up with those "WR" votes, anyway? How can they be considered as affirmative? I think they should not be counted either way, you know, to keep things more interesting! LOL
I am glad other people are noticing this. Its the most ridiculous way to vote. Its just politicians trying to having it both way.

Basically, what they are saying is that I don't really like this bill, but I am going to vote yes anyways because it would be unpopular to vote No.

A yes vote is a yes vote. All these "ayes with reservations" is a meaningless jester. It is still a yes vote.

I am for the Super Ferry. It is good for every locals and their families. Birds, and all the people travelling in and out of the island brings foreign species. I would like to see a survey to see how many whales being injured or killed by the existing cruise ships and young brothers barges that roamed our ocean for years. The issue now is speculations about what could happen. But let the ferry run and I heard they have the state of the art sonar equipments to detect whales from far distance.

I think all local people should voice their approval for the ferry. All I see are the rich folks who are like the old time missionaries are trying to keep away these new developments from happening. I would love to go see a relative on kauai using the ferry to ship my own car so I dont have to bother my ohana about having to borrow their car.

The ferry also will provide jobs for others who needs jobs, and also helps the economy. I sure dont want to feel the pinch like Molokai is facing now because Jobs are scarce. It is pathetic to wake up early in the morning to catch the boat to maui for work. Molokai reminds me of the movie Papillon, when the prisoners where left alone on a small isolated island with nowhere to turn and no way out. I will move back to California if I start to see the island becoming like a prison with no outside contact.

I totally agree. I'm a HSF supporter, but I'd rather see a no vote from a senator than a half ass yes. I rather know EXACTLY what stance you take on the issue rahter than tiptoe around it.

Do you think that the HSF people are poor folk. A fledgling startup perhaps? Do you really think that they are doing this so local people can take thier cars inter island? Local people cant sustain this business.

I din't know there was such a thing as "with reservations" when voting. I thought its just a straight up vote. Do these guys get to have an out of something else happens along the way?

HI Legislator. "I voted for it, but my heart wasn't in it. Don't blame me." LOL

Bottomline. The SF bill will pass. Spin and all.

What is true justice and what is morally and ethically correct regarding this supper ferry issue?

What does the bible teach about this issue? How about the Koran? Or the Buddhist teachings or other related religious teachings?

Who are the people who support the super ferry and why do they support it and who are the people that oppose the super ferry and why do the oppose it?

Are the reasons that people sight for supporting the super ferry based in sound moral values?

Are the reasons that people sight for opposing the super ferry based in sound moral values?

What will be the consequence of the super ferry on all levels for the people and the islands of hawaii including religious, moral, ethical, economic, sociological, political, legal, and other?

What is the real motivation and what is the real intention of the people who support and oppose the super ferry?

May GOD's Will be done and may justice prevail!

I THINK THE SUPPER FERRY IS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPEN IN HAWAII, WE HAVE AN ALTERNATE MEANS OF TRANSPORTAION BESIDES AIR TRAVEL. I HOPE THE PEOPLE OF KAUAI CAN HAVE AN OPEN MIND TO IT. WE CAN BRING OUR CARS OVER TO SEE OUR OHANA ON THESES DIFFERNT ISLANDS AND CAN BRING US CLOSER TOGATHER. I CANT WAIT FOR BIG ISLAND TO BE UP AND RUNNING WE GOT OHANA THERE TOO THANK U

I support the Hawaiians in giving them what they want and leaving the white politics OUT. Hawaii is their own land and not ours. The Hawaiian people don't need these politics as they are smart enough to figure out what they need or desire for their own lands. I am blessed to be invited to come visit and support their cause of sovereignty.

The jerks that went to Kauai on the ferry and stole truckloads of river-rock got things off to a bad start. The same will happen with shells, plants, fish, firewood, and anything else the usual me-me me-first plunderers can carry. I don't blame the protesters and feel bad for the people of Kauai if the Oahuans get a way back there without strong law-enforcement in place ahead of time, and some looting laws enacted BEFORE ferry service resumes.
