It's too bad Island Air could not purchase the rights and re identify itself as Aloha Island Air complete with the old Aloah Airlines logos it once had.

In truth, it is one of the survivor spinoffs of the fabled airline.

Just let it go. Aloha was just another airline, nothing special or outstanding. Just let it rest

I agree with you. It is high time to move on. Aloha did nothing special and the people need to know this. If they did something special - what was it? Unless you call putting nearly 2 thousands workers out of a job with no pension or security to fall back on. It is high time for the Aloha lovers to realize that they have been taken to the cleaners and if they don't yet believe it - then tell me how many former employees are dancing in the street!!

Former Aloha employees and Aloha Lovers and "everything else (airlines, etc.) haters", GET OVAH IT ALREADY. Aloha is PAU, it was nothing but another airline trying to mnake a buck, but the lazy, old fashioned way without upgrading much. Didn't work. This endless Aloha family thing makes me sick already. Your family is at home! What family lets a decent company go to hell in a hand basket and watches this happening, fully aware, all the way down into the dumpster? Not much of a family, is it? Instead of whining, endless fundraisers for laid off employees, all former Aloha airline employees should go look for another job and move on. I heard Hawaiian Air hired many of them. Bless you Hawaiian! Did you whiners all apply there? I lost jobs many times. So what! Stuff happens and we need to look forward, not back. Better things can follow. Our families require a positive outlook! Move on and grow! Help your families with a better future! Aloha and have a great day! KK

I went to the fundraising event for the Aloha employees. As an ex Discovery Air employee that lost a job because of trumped up charges by a pack of rivals led by Aloha, I was shocked to see that many of the same Aloha former employees crying
for the loss of their job, were the same that were dancing with joy when
500 employees of Discovery lost their jobs. But I gave anyway.
Their incompetent management that raked millions of $$ in compensation, didn't give a penny nor shed a tear for the poor souls
that they led to the unemployment line. Wake up and stop crying over a lousy airline that wanted it all and gave nothing back.

Sour grapes? For what? I went on to do bigger and better things. However, I just stated the facts. Are you an ex Aloha employee? If you are, I feel for you and for the job that you lost but the fact remains that Aloha was an average airline led by a group of incompetent and greedy managers. This endless nostalgia for Aloha is really unwarranted. The former employees should look no further of where to lay the blame than their own management.

However, life has moved on, Aloha is gone and forgotten.

Oohh, so so cold, brrrr. "Gone and forgotten", "life has moved on". Wonder what your past on family members would say of you. Great grandma who ??
But this is life. Leave humans out of the equation and just stick to business. Few examples? Pan Am, TWA,
People Express, Discovery Air, Sabena
Air Cal, PSA and other 147 airlines.

All gone and others sprang up to replace them. Don't keep looking in the back mirror or you will crash. Look ahead!

Had these been 'trumped up charges' as you say Discovery would not have had a problem with them don't you think? The law is the law and Discovery got caught trying to skirt federal foreign ownership restrictions end of story.

What employees of Island Air are you talking about?

Can't you read? They saved jobs and created a hundred more which they will fill with former Aloha Airlines personnel. They expanded their operation. Not someone else taking them over and forcing them out. Why are you so like that?

Wrong I am afraid. Discovery was NEVER charged nor convicted by any authorities of any wrong doing. The DOT did their own investigation and granted the certificate.Discovery was accused by Aloha, Hawaiian, ALPA
but the accusation were NEVER proven nor charges were ever brouught. A complacent judge "suspended" the certificate pending investigation that would have took 6 months to complete. Never being done before and never done ever since. But with
500 employeees on the payroll, that was a death certificate and the competitors knew. They abused and exploited a loopol in the law. Please do your reserches and then make an informed comment. Otherways you look like an ass.

For years, Aloha including it's CEO has contributed generously to the Hawaii Democrat regime. This is why went they went bankrupt there was all kinds of special events/fundraisers, etc including a block party downtown to raise money for them, a job fair for Aloha Airline employees ONLY, legislation was quickly passed to continue healthcare for the kids of Aloha airlines employees,etc...

This has NEVER been done for any other company that has gone bankrupt.

Can you say bias and favortism??

NO, YOU'RE wrong. I believe "ex Discovery Air" is actually Macasolla himself trying to JUSTIFY Discovery's failure by blaiming it on everyone else. Why would Peter Ho dodge an investigation if they had nothing to hide? You gotta be kidding me. this is the same guy who failed 3 airlines yet pontificates in the papers that airlines are gouging the customer to hide inefficiencies. If his "claims" were true, he would have applied those principles and succeeded in at least one of his failed and bankrupt venturess (Discovery, Mid Pacific, or Debonair)

The truth hurts, Mancasolla. Give iit up already.

Wow, more sour grapes! "How come the Aloha employees got more than me?" WAH WAH WAH. Good thing you didn't have anything to do their benefits or they would have gotten nothing. You have no say in the matter. Hehehe. Blast away.
