Waaaaah, I don't want no competition in my exclusive backyard. Too freakin bad YB. First you 86'd the Superferry and now you show your true colors. What's next, rais eyour rates too? Gimme a break, along with the rest of the state.
PUC - let them intervene, but deny all requests, comb through their books and all applications and tell them to stop wasting your time, and provide some competition in the lucrative interisland shipping market.
Kauai - you can still suck wind.

Shibai - "only serves Hawaii" Young Bros. is owned by giant Saltchuk Corporation http://www.saltchuk.com/links.aspx of Seattle which also owns Totem Ocean (the Matson of Alaska), Foss Tug & Barge on the West Coast, SeaStar lines (a joint venture with Matson) in Puerto Rico.
Oh and I almost forgot - Aloha Air Cargo.
They love their monopolies - but that doesn't mean we should not have competition.
