I am sure that the taser had nothing to do with him choking on drugs (pot from what I have read). Midlothian does not have an official taser use policy. They are also known for covering up their mistakes to make them look as if they have used proper procedures. The case of the high speed chase that ended in a serious crash in Blue Island is a case in point where two officers lied in their reports, a complete cover up by the police. Evidently it was settled out of court as there is no longer information about it anywhere, http://cbs2chicago.com/investigations/midloth...

case and point about this latest incident in Midlothian. I am glad that the Illinois State Police are investigating this latest incident of the Taser of this individual. I hope the Illinois State Police get to the bottom of this incident any maybe they should look at all the prior incidents by the police department here too.

Is this going to turn out like the guy who was trying to rob the Dunkin Donuts through the drive thru window and wound up getting killed and then we heard all the sob stories about what a great and honorable man he was......... he was robbing the flippin' store.

Not exactly a fine, upstanding citizen there, was he???

We'll have to wait for more details on this one!

There are know it alls hanging out on this board.

They like to police bash. Yes, it will end up someone was someone strung out and wasted and committed a crime. Resisted arrest and was tasered.

Hopefully, this will not cost the village a lot for a jerk

The 1st I heard of this incident was here on Topix. If it's true he died while swallowing pot is it possible if he was taserd he choked on the pot? If he was taserd, did he have a weapon? As far as the Illinois State Police investgating I think it's standard operating procedure when something like this happens. I know of a few incidents first hand with the PD here when things were not handled properly tho and they could of/should of done a better job and also did not follow procedure. Personaly if a bad guy doesn't follow the PD's orders they should kick his a$$ and once he gets out of the hospital he can go to court since the judical system is a joke. I may be a minority on that but thats my feeling. Do what the cops say or else feel the pain, but like I said I know of a few things from a few years ago where cops here did not handle the incident well and/or properly and also broke company policy/procedures.

I thought the story read that he tried swallowing something that was in a plastic bag and I thought the plastic bag probably blocked off the ability to breath.

Ohhh....plastic....hmmmm

That may do it. Wondering Too, let me try and explain this to you.....if possible. People put drugs in plastic bags. If swallowed, this can get caught in the wind pipe. Try swallowing a platic baggy. We will know it succeceded if you cease breathing. Please record it for everyone's viewing pleasure :-)

Must have been a Chicago Public school graduate.

No loss to society either.

I would love to be able to watch a video though. It wouild be great for a Dumbest Dopper episode.

Illinois State Police Public integrity unit investigate all incidents like this. Its standard procedure for every police department. But way to jump to conclusions.

Until we are the one standing in the police officer(s) shoes, I don't see how we can sit here and judge how they should or should not have responded. Apart from the obvious of blatant brutality or shooting and unarmed person (which honestly, doesn't always imply improper procedure as they may have thought it was a gun/weapon being held), how can we as outsiders, not even first-hand observers possibly declare them tried and convicted?

I for one think that you can have all the training in the world, but in that moment, one deviation from what your training has told you to expect can mean a world of difference.

All you people are stupid. The state police come in to assist departments when officers are involved in shootings and deaths of this type, so there is no cover up....This parolee sex offender was selling crack....he swallowed the dope and choked on it....So why dont you guys be the police and give the job a shot????

Tasers dont kill, people kill themselves...

I feel sympathy for the officer.

A felon committing a felony dies attempting to conceal drugs. How shocking.....

What would liberals want to happen, a bullet to the chest or beaten into submission in orger to be arrested.

Daily Horoscope for February 5

Gemini

Matters of conviction are important today and you may have to make decisions based on clashes between your own beliefs and the beliefs of others. This may set you apart, but it's important to gain inner strength by acting or speaking up for what's right, instead of just letting things slip by. You may lose a connection but you'll gain something important within.
