This is not a knock on GiGis and good luck, it sounds like a great organization and fills a need. The knock is on the location which was "Donated by Mayor Kuspa". 5400 W159th. Is this the city owned former church? Can he do that? Can my daughters softball team use the building on Cicero so the dads can have someplace to gather?

Sounds like the real estate buying by the city will not bring in revenue but will lose it. The building was bought for 1 million and the return is 0. And it is not theirs to give away. It is tax payers property. The egos on our politicians is incredibly insulting. Someone tell me I am wrong, please!

and when a viable tenant comes along.... They won't be able to move in. Tax payers screwed again. If hank want to "donate" space it should be space he "owns" How about he donates space at his house??? Or pay the rent out of his pocket!!!!

The arrogance and incompetence that the city shows is astounding. It almost seems criminal. I would vote for anyone with no former ties to the city right now. I am sure I won't change my mind come April. I'm dumbfounded. Why is the city so quiet about these real estate acquisitions and the plans? Is the former church going o be sold or is it a community center? Is it available to all of the citizens? I hate Oak Forest politics. So dirty.

It's not like you have many options at this point. Don't vote ? That's worse. Already got to think that if you filled every square inch of useable space around here, with retail and no TIF's, it would be miniscule ,if any, benefit to taxpayer. And did I read some reference to bringihg on a retail consultant ?

How about not spending what they have so foolishly. Like on real estate and Hanks back yard. Like creating jobs for cronies and giving them a city vehicle.

they are spending like this is their money. There is no consideration of the taxpayer that has to continuously dig dipper. I am fed up, Enough is enough !

I'm pretty sure the article says that the Mayor donated the use of the property for the next fundraiser, not for the permanent location of the building. Again, why do you look for your answers here? Call city hall and ask them if they are in the business of donating city property. I would think not.

And they had a painting party to spruce up property they will not be using? No, research. Have you tried calling City Hall? If you dont get one of the young high school kids you get a rude old timer that wont answer your questions. Hell, i couldnt get a live person on the phone to report a pot hole.

From the article "Husar said she hopes the Oak Forest location will open in September 2013. She added that the biggest hurdle was finding a space to house the location, something that Mayor Hank Kuspa assisted with. Kuspa donated the location of the GiGi's Playhouse and that another of his ideas will be used for the next GiGi's fundraiser on Dec. 9."

GiGi's Facebook page makes numerous references about the old church site becoming their 'permanent' home.

Sure sounds to me like Good Old Hank donated the location.
