Bye Bye Patch

This online POS has hit rock bottom, again. You now have the same crap articles appearing in dozens of other Patch sites, while the EDITOR does nothing about the filth that pollutes their comments section. LAUREN, this is for you. If you have anything of a brain left after your hound ravages you each night, try to clean up your sites. They are as big of a joke as your ugly dog is. If not, then quit and get your ever widening rear end over to the Starbucks you so love to park your butt at and get a new job.

You are a disgrace to every citizen in the south suburbs. You shill for clicks and FB likes, but all you bring to the table are the same stupid questions week after week. You promote your sites as different, yet you allow the same trolls, spammers, and paid politickers day after day to spew hate and venom on each and every board.

Grow up, get a clue, or get out. If you wonder why the site is failing and AOL keeps cutting people, then go look in the mirror. It's people like you who refuse to step up and ask tough questions of elected leaders and do actual journalism that ruin this for the citizens of the towns you profess to love. Thanks for NOTHING.

So how do you REALLY feel? Pretty harsh. Did she refuse your advances? Move on, don't read the Patch.

A disgrace to every citizen in the south suburbs? don't speak for me cause the Patch and Lauren are not a disgrace to me and I live in the south suburbs. I think you are ridiculous and evil and I'm guessing you are one butt ugly guy or girl who has been turned down by Lauren or wishes that they looked as cute as Lauren and are incredibly jealous of her. If the site sends you into such a tizzy that you are at risk of stroking out it's pretty simply to correct, just don't read the site anymore. Your jealous rants and evil tantrums are starting to become highly annoying. The Patch is a neighborhood site, not 20/20 investigative reporting fod goodness sake.

Don't like that opinion, don't read Topix. The truth stands. She does nothing about the trolls and paid spammers because she needs the clicks, regardless of how many racists she allows to post. I want it to fail, and I want it to fail soon, so another, brighter set of people can come along and do it right.

I don't really care about your opinion, but my opinion is that you are a butt ugly guy who was turned down by Lauren for a date or a butt ugly girl who wishes she had Lauren's life. There really is no other reason for your obsession with the Patch and its local editor

I am a butt ugly poster who is in love with Lauren and will defend her no matter what anyone says about her, even if its true she is clueless, husband less, and worthless to the world of online journalism.

No, not in love with Lauren but can I ask you a question? Why is she being husbandless have anything to do with the Patch? That is a HUGE hint that you are a jealous butt ugly guy or girl. BIG hint. I'm not defending her but I am defending the Patch. Its a neighborhood local news site, and if the news is the Fleadh or dog parks or high school sports than so be it. It is not supposed to be a hard hitting news expose sight. Plenty of those on the internet why not check them out?

The day she does an investigative piece on the doings within OF, will be her first. That is of course if Hank, Jim and Troy give her approval as shes wiping her chin off.

did you not read the post above your filth? It said that the Patch is NOT meant to be a hard hitting investigative site. It is meant to report neighborhood news, and Oak Forest is not the South side of the city. We're kind of boring here in Oak Forest, just a bunch of hard working normal folks who love their kids, love neighborhood events, love to celebrate holidays and all things family. No daily gang shootings to report thank goodness. As for your direct evil filth directed at Lauren only, this once again is a BIG hint that you are an ugly boyfriend scorned, or a pimple faced fat butt girl who is insanely jealous of Lauren.

There's a big difference between being a local NEWS site and a propaganda wing of the administrations that FEED you their information. When citizens and readers of your NEWS site ask for VALID answers to some of the lies that these yahoos put out, you get crickets from the Patch editors, ALL OF THEM.

Pull your head out of your hind quarters and see the truth. Lauren, Jeff, and the rest of them are too chicken sheet to ask any follow up questions of our elected officials. Go ahead and find me some evidence of them actually INTERVIEWING an official, instead of reporting their talking points.

Why don't you just call the elected official yourself if you want to ask them a question? That would most certainly be the way to get the info straight from the horse's mouth right?

TRHC, are you 12?

A local news site is supposed to do just that. Provide the local news of the town they represent. News means all of it. Not just stuff about dogs and chris medina. Although thankfully that seems to have run its course.

Example:

Patch- "City tells the Patch that XYZ is going to happen."

Patch Reader -- "Patch, did you ask City WHY this will happen?"

Patch-.........nothing

More Patch Readers- "I agree, did you ask them A, B ,or C? CAN you ask them A,B, or C and let us know?"

Patch-.........more nothing.

A few days later on Patchs Facebook page-- "city says XYZ is going to happen, and readers are REALLY talking about it."

Patch FB readers- have you asked the city A, B, or C yet?

Patchs FB response? NOTHING!

See the pattern here? If there was ever an example of not wanting to bite the hand that feeds you, here it is. Over and over and over, on almost every local patch page. So don't give me your BS about NOT being a news site, if you're gonna post CITY NEWS, then have the balls to QUESTION the City when asked to by your readers. Don't run and hide......That's what's pathetic about this site.

From Business Insider......a partial repost. Link at the end.

AOL seems to be radically changing its plans for Patch, it's network of local news sites.
We've heard from insiders that the division is pivoting away from a human editor centric model, toward one where local sites ("Patches") are built to be content-sharing and community-organizing tools for their areas.
Editors won't go away entirely, but there will be fewer of them, writing for more sites.
The contraction of human resources is not going unnoticed.
Former Patch editors keeping track of their old employer have begun emailing us about it.
One says:
Looks like AOL Patch is continuing to cut editors. Of the 50 sites in Maryland about 15 appear to be w/o editors including Annapolis and Severna Park, two of the larger sites. Many others are "doubling up"...one editor now handling two sites instead of one.
What's going on? Is this the beginning of the end for hyper-local approach at AOL?
Another:
I noted with interest the recent article that you did on AOL and Patch. I’m following this saga as I was one of the original freelancers let go 9 months after it started (correction: asked to work for 1/3 of what I had been paid), by a young, highly immature local editor (I digress). Recently, same Patch ( Renton.patch.com ) and many of the other Patch sites locally (Greater Seattle area) mysteriously went from having local editors to links to “staff” and most of the sites are now distributing much of the same news. I thought you might like the tip in case you are interested in following up on the saga.
We were also skeptical of Patch's human-heavy approach. We always noted that Patch's AOL cousin, Huffington Post, has a much larger audience for its four local blogs than Patch had for its 800.
The human-heavy Patch cost AOL ~$150 million per year, and was a big reason why AOL's Internet access division's profits were more than the total company's profits.
So, making Patch more of a Web-tool for locals is a smart move.
Still, it sucks to hear about people getting fired.
Update: Here's a comment from Patch on this story:
"Patch as we know it will continue to exist and thrive, as we continue to be, a blend of original reporting, high-quality community contribution, and aggregation. We test different models in an effort to best serve our existing communities, and our future ones. We had a great 2012 in which we more than doubled revenue, increased traffic by roughly 40% and realized double-digit percentage operating efficiencies. We are well positioned for our stated goal of run-rate profitability by the end of the year."

Straight from their site.

"ABOUT US

What is Patch?
Simply put, Patch is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what's going on near you.

We're a community-specific news, information and engagement platform driven by passionate and experienced new media professionals. Patch is revolutionizing the way neighbors connect with each other, their communities, and the national conversation.

We want to be the most trusted, comprehensive, and relevant news and information resource in your community. What can you do on Patch?

Keep up with news and events
Check out photos and videos from around town
Learn more about local businesses and the people behind them
Participate in discussions
Share your perspectives via our Local Voices blogging platform
Submit your own announcements, photos, and reviews"

So......they want to be trusted and relevant?????? FAILURE. Passionate NEW MEDIA professionals? FAIL! Unless, of course today's NEW MEDIA is all about ignoring repeated requests from readers.....

So, Holy cow, aside from some name calling, Patch has failed to live up to its own mission statement. They could all be the cutest group of people this side of the Mickey Mouse club, but they know nothing about what they're doing.

This has nothing to do with any specific town. It has EVERYTHING to do with how the PATCH purport themselves to their readers. If you cannot understand that, then retread the thread.

u posted this and I'd say that the Patch is doing exactly what they say they were going to do: keep neighbors communicating, posting photos from around town, participate in discussions, blogs and so on. I don't know what your problem is, but I would say this. I think I've got another idea of who you are and wnhy you are so focused on Lauren and the Patch. Did you get turned down for a job or did you get fired by the Patch? I feel sorry for you.

And the next step to shutting down the site begins

http://oakforest.patch.com/articles/meet-some...

Editors being fired and replaced with poorly educated idiots looking for murder victims to exploit, tragedies to repost and repost from Patch to FB to Patch and back again.....all so your clicks can be sold to advertisers and monetized for their gain.

Likei said, end of the year, this will not be the same. It'll be reduced to a Craigslist style POS website that invites trolls and parasites to spew anti everything.

Garbage in, garbage out. Good bye patch. TOLD YOU SO!!!!
