Has anyone noticed the crime stats supplied by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement showing a 30% increase in overall crime in Jupiter in 2007 from the previous year? We had the 3rd. highest increase in palm beach county. As a regular reader of the Jupiter courier and Palm Beach Post I cannot recall of any article or comment in recent memory that brought this important subject to light. If this is NOT a significant issue within our community what would you consider to be important for the courier and Palm Beach Post to address? Worried they might offend or embarrass the Mayor or town manager Of Jupiter? I think an open public forum to address this important issue would be a start to shine a light on the complacency and incompetence of the leadership in Jupiter starting with our 6 term mayor.

Actually met with the chief of police a while back with neighbor concerns in our area. Paseos's had around 35 reports of crime in 1 day. Just in our area alone, about 20 houses, the crime has tripled in 1 year. It seems to be a wide spread outbreak occurring all over Jupiter and the Abacoa area. In order to make a change and voice concerns I was told to go to town hall on Tues. meetings to speak about to the council and the mayor.

The apathy concerning this subject is appalling. The quality of life we once enjoyed here in Jupiter is on a downward spiral and the perception to many here in our community is that there is a direct correlation between the sanctuary policies of Mayor Golonka and the rapid rise in overall crime. Along with the uncontrolled influx of undocumented aliens here in Jupiter and other outlining communities we have seen violent street gangs such as ms-13 and the mexican mafia establish a foothold to which many smaller police departments such as Jupiter's are not equipped to address. Sadly I don't believe we as a community are prepared to be honest and forthwright to tell the leadership in our communities that this must be addressed quickly before it's too late.

And while I'm on the subject since I can't get an answer from Mayor Golonka of Jupiter, Fl. is it her policy that that she direct law enforcement to shield undocumented juvenile and adult felons arrested in the city of Jupiter from federal immigration authorities?

The Mayor & her co-conspitators's are very shortsighted & are dooming this formerly safe & delightful Town to a similar fate as So. California. Illegals are "illegal" criminals- breaking the law to come here, stay here, avoid taxation in insisting on cash pay. Mayor's breaking the law as well with her Sanctuary policies. The overall costs to overburdened tax payers, schools, hospitals are at criminal proportion. Expect 2'nd & 3'rd generation Illegals to populate the criminal gangs, just as they do in Calif. First Gen. Illegals work so hard that their offspring are basically raised by gangs. Thanks mayor.

It's obvious that the mayor and her fellow councilmen are only interested in their own short term gain. They are building homes and condos on every empty lot, even lots previously protected. Hell, they even approved building a PRIVATE Montessori school in the middle of Maplewood park. Are they building parks for all the new residents in Jupiter? NO. No new parks. No room to roam. Just houses so close together that backyards are practically extinct. Just more businesses and tax revenue and god knows how many kickbacks. Once they have profited from this once tranquil town, they will abscond with no concern for the overpopulation, massive tax increases, traffic nightmares and a lower quality of citizen which is now apparent in the explosion of crime.

Unless people show up at the town hall meetings, they will continue to do as they want. People just do not get involved in their communities anymore. It's a shame because now we are seeing the results of our inaction.

I attended meetings & politely voiced my concerns. My reward for being a concerned & involved citizen? Galonka's Mafia disquised as Code Enforcement officials descended upon my home & business. We had weekly & sometimes daily visits. These corrupt officials accused me of everything under the sun while ignoring others in my immediate area with "obvious" violations. Threatended with huge fines & closure (starvation),I fought & eventually won- Thousands down the drain in Attorney fee's & lost productivity. They have the power to destroy your life AND they do not hesitate to band together & plot your ruin. These people are so corrupt & the Mayor is their leader. Go ahead & get involved.....if you have nothing to lose. I fought & won, but I could've easily cut & run.

That's unreal! Yeah, they strongarmed me too when I tried to stop the Montessori School from being built in our park down the road. Not only was I blocked at the doors when leaving the meeting, I was nudged and elbowed and when I made it to the car, someone followed me all the way home. Within a weeks time, one of the Montessori Parents had called the private school I work at to inform them of my extra-curricular activities that were getting in the way of building their school on public property. My boss told the nutjob mom that what I did after school hours as a public citizen was MY business and of no concern to them.

It really is disturbing to see this corrupt council do whatever it wants and none of it is in the best interests of Jupiter. Anyone who lives here now will tell you how the quality of life has suffered thanks to the Mayors greed and her fellow cohorts. We can only hope that Karma succeeds where we have failed.

Just in case there are those who have read the previous posts let me illustrate the hard numbers provided by florida department of law enforcement.

Crime stats for Jupiter,Fl.

2006 Jan.-June
Murder-1
Robberies-29
Agg. assaults-52
burglary-157
larcenies-462
motor veh. thefts-38
2007 Jan.-June
Murder-2
Robberies-45
Agg. assaults-78
Burglary-247
Motor veh. thefts-43
That an overall increase of 36.6% in 2007 from the previous year. Juno and Tequesta showed an overall increase in crime of about 20% in the same time period. So to those who continue to hand the reins of leadership to Mayor Golonka and the town council there needs to be accountability before we lose the idyllic spirit of this town we have chosen to call home.

Wow! NIce stuff, but people I know continue to battle the town of jupiter every week and at each town meeting.

If we get a new mayor next election, the town manager, police chief and several others should be terminated immediately. Did you know that the assitant town manager comes from the police chief's home town in Pa.!

Yeah it is scary in Jupiter with golonka and the four mummies posing as Town Council Members.

Golonka's term is up with elections in March. So is Kuretski, the Gargoyle of the shores, and Wood.... Woodwho?

Week after week, Jupiter Police tell me they are trying to stop the illegal vending in Jupiter. We have sent license plate numbers, along with photos to the police. Last Saturday, they stopped the white cargo van license plate Martin County A52-1NC and let them go again. Shame is, I am standing in line paying Jupiter's 75 dollar license fee for myself, plus the taxes

We have seen Emilio Santiago on April 27th 2009 so drunk, he drove through three mailboxes and a house. He was only charged with driving without a license.

We have witnessed unlicensed, unlawful medical clinics operate for years without getting shutdown

Let me break down why things are so bad in Jupiter over the past couple of years. Trust me I used to work within the walls of the town...

1. Influx of illegals the town police are discouraged from arresting. They are even told on reports to list hispanics as "white males." to statistically conceal the rising crime being committed from the illegals.

2. The "El Sol Center" opening after Mark Foley resigned after his scandal (Foley vowed to close it if it opened under violations of Federal Law).

3. A mayor and council that are deeply seeded with local investors and developers that give generous "perks" in exchange for approving things from the town to their benefit.

4. Several high paid "at will employees" that will do anything they are told and run interference for people that question the town's intergrity or attempt to blow the whistle on any wrong doing. They have spent thousands in legal fees attempting to cover town corruption up with Jupiter tax money.

The town leaders and the town council are not concerned with making Jupiter better for its tax paying citizens. they are only concerned with carving up the town among themselves for their political and financial gain. If you have any doubt in that, look at the town now versus what it used to look like ten years ago. Attend town meetings and ask direct questions and see how quickly you're snubbed. Call the chief of police and ask why the town of Jupiter will not encourage and aid Border Patrol or ICE to conduct round ups for illegals like they do routinely in other towns in Palm Beach County. The town is going to hell in a hand basket. You can thank your Mayor, city manager, and town council.
