I moved from Kentucky to Juneau back in September. I will tell you what its like. There is beautiful scenery all around and the air is very clean. Its always raining, and chilly out. Its starting to get dark around 5:30pm our time which in KY would be 9:30pm. Being from KY where the groceries are so cheap, it was definately hard for me to adjust. The food here is expensive..a 24 pk of soda runs you about $10.00 depending on where you get it, whereas in KY its about $5 something. If you dont have a vehicle then you better learn the bus systems because the taxi's are outrageous. My husband and I take one to the store and back and its like $40.00 total. The store we go to is just down the road. There is not alot of fast food here either, unless you live around the downtown or douglas area...thats about it if you want to know more...message back..

Well there was definately some sticker shock because things here are alot more expensive than home in KY. They have a small mall here, and walmart, fred meyers, costco and some other places..as far as resteraunts I havent been out to one but ive had dominos delivered and its wonderful..costed about $40.00 and some chinese food and it was really good too.. bout 26 dollars.. I dont know when it starts sticking I just moved here in September.. but its a great place just have a warm coat..like right now its 19 degrees..lol
