That is on par for the sheriff's department.

If you new the whole thruth I believe the police had every right because the elderly man did not let the deputy do his job. the elderly man was very forceful with the police.

The law enforcement in Menard has gone down hill in the last few years. And this is just another notch in the worthless column. An out of towner can not even drive through Menard without being harassed by the police. I know that they are trying to do there job but there comes a time when enough is enough.

Well, I grew up there, and might still live here, and yes this is very common for the Sheriff's department here. Always has been, always will be the 'free state of menard'.

And by the way, I know 'Slim', and he is not the sort to be a real harm to anyone, but these cops today, and there arrogant attitudes towards the public, they think everyone is a criminal, and should be treated that way. Well around these parts acting that way might find you in some trouble when your on a lonely back road in these parts.

Mr. Neel, the attorney for the deputty;if one is to really consider him an attorney since he has not successfully tried a case in oh about 20 years, dismissed the case as soon as he realized that 'Slim' did have an attorney. I do know the 'whole truth', I was in the courtroom. Hmmmm, an attorney that drops a case before it starts? That really does sound like guilt does it not? Needless to say the cop got rode out of town on a rail. But as always there real threat in Menard are the people of power here. I will not name any names, but there is alot that goes on in these small towns that not many people realize, and these ones are the real reason Menard's law inforcement is so bad. It started to go down hill about 18 years ago when Floyd Rendon got blacked balled out of the Sheriff's office.

I was not a resident when Floyd Rendon was the sheriff but I was there for Bruce Huff and for some of the time with Clay Wagner. I have nothing good to say about Bruce, and I have heard that Clay had played favorites with one of his children. I totally agree with everything that ANO has posted.

You don't live here in Menard as I do so keep your mouth shut. The elder have a law to back them just as the children do.How would you like it if your old grandfather was done that way and or your old dad. Thank you

I totaly agree with ANO the law inforcement is so unfair. They play favorites ALOT!!!alot of the times what they should do is look in the mirror..They do the same thing that they arrest people for..Oh and to sandra you must not know to much about menard cops...next time I think you need to keep your cheap opinion to your self..I think if you knew both Slim and the police department there in menard trust me your opinion would be diffrent!I really think something should be done!!!

In the police acadamey they show an elderly man pull out a shotgun and blow the head off of an officer...so tell me how forceful can a 87 year old really be..the man in the video was 96...and they forgot the part that says the deputy was new to the town and was only following proceedure...but this is just like that town...spread what they want not the whole truth...

Once again the whole truth is not known...Clay played favorites with one of his children...lol I am assuming that you are referring to whenever his youngest daughter swerved to miss a deer and rolled her car...of course this is Menard so the first thing that everyone thinks is that she was drunk...but what people don't know is that Clay did not work her wreck due to nepotism...or for the simple people, it was because he was kin to her...a DPS officer from another town worked Kelly's wreck. A blood tox was done and came back normal...so there you go...a dose of the truth.
