Danville just changed their Trick or Treat times due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. I assume Junction City will do likewise.

"City Manager Ron Scott announced today that Danville’s official hours of celebrating Halloween would be changed, due to the expected impact of Hurricane Sandy on Danville Tuesday night.

“The safety of our children was the main factor in moving the Halloween celebration from Tuesday, October 30 to Wednesday, October 31”, Scott said in a written press release.“On Tuesday afternoon it will be raining with winds blowing a steady 23-25 MPH, with gusts over 45 MPH. With the wind chill, the effective temperature will be below 30 degrees. Visibility will be impaired by the conditions, to the point it will be hazardous to be out, either walking or driving. It will be safer to reschedule Halloween for Wednesday, October 31, when conditions will be much improved.”

Danville’s Halloween Celebration will be moved from Tuesday, October 30 to Wednesday October 31…which is Halloween. The new City-wide trick or treat hours will be from 6-8 pm throughout the City; Trick or Treat on Main Street will be from 5:30 -7:30 pm October 31.

Scott noted the decision to change the Halloween hours was made after discussions with Police Chief Tony Gray, Fire Chief Woody Ball, and Heart of Danville Interim Director Brenda Willoughby. For additional information, please contact those individuals at the Police Department, Fire Department, or the Heart of Danville."

Funny how they moved it because of church traffic from Wens. To Tues. and now that traffic is suddenly safe to have it on Halloween now...you should have left it on Halloween ti begin with. You didn't have our children's safety in mind when you moved it the first time otherwise you wouldn't move it back you just wanted your cake and eat it too by not missing church to trick or treat...

They obviously haven't updated. As far as I am concerned, no candy will be given out on the 30th. Come back the next day, on Halloween.:)

Just called Junction city hall and they said it is still tonight. It's raining here 6 miles from Junction so i hope it stops by tonight but doesn't look like its going to. Junction just needs to suck it up and change it back to Halloween. less chance for rain then.

Im guess they should have kept their child at home. It's not like last night was the only night. It was the parents choice. If you thought your child was going to get sick stay home and hand out candy to the rest of the kids. As for votebigD not on my life time big boy. You would have been trying to sell shirts last night trying to make a profit... tri ck or tre at 2012 to the kids AND parents.

The weather was horrible last night in junction for trick or treating. The city council or whoever is in charge for not changing back to tonight (it's not raining and will be a little warmer) should all be ashamed of themselves for not, they are idiots and care nothing about the children of that town...i hope they enjoy their night in church (which is their reason for not changing it back to tonight i'm sure) and have a clear conscious about what they put the kids through. As far as it not being the only night, if you have family, friends, or teachers that live in junction it is the only night to trick or treat at their houses.

Actually, I reconsidered my position and gave out candy last night, and the turnout was surprisingly decent. Better than last year in fact. I got cleaned out of all candy by eight.
