JUNCTION CITY — Geary County authorities on Tuesday arrested a Junction City man in connection with the slaying of a 22-year-old man found shot on a city sidewalk on Friday morning, police said.

Rodney Allen Quick, 28, was arrested and booked into jail on a Geary County warrant charging him with first degree murder and obstruction of official duty in the shooting death of Lionel Page, 22, of Junction City, said Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown.

Page was found about 2:05 a.m. on Friday by police responding to the report of gunshots in the 900 block of N. Washington. Upon arrival, officers found Page lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. Page was taken to Geary County Community Hospital where he later died. Page had recently returned to Junction City from the Florida.

Investigators said Quick 2was arrested Saturday on unrelated charges involving a traffic stop and had been in jail since the incident.

Brown said detectives working the case requested the arrest warrant after interviewing witnesses in the the slaying investigation. He said there isn't any evidence to date that indicates Page's death is related to a death of Crystal Fisher, who was killed on March 3 in Junction City.

Fisher's death remains under investigation.

Quick remained confined on Tuesday in the Geary County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Today August 17th 2010, is a heart wrenching day for me. As this day stepped in, i realize that my son is no longer around for me to wish him happy birthday, buy him gift or to tell him at every conversation that i love him . I often wonder why he was snacted away from us. why would someone turn a gun on a 22yr old child. lionel was just trying to find himself, and we were ready to assist him in doing so, now all we can live by is the memories of his warm smile, his love for children and the mediator that he was. I had my son @ a very young age but regardless of that, his dad and I nurtured him into loving people and loving his creator. I pray that the heart of his killer will turn to loving others instead of killing . I hope that he realizes that what he did was senseless and many people are mournig Lionel's death. I pray that God will help us to render forgiveness...... May Lionel's soul rest in peace. We will always LOVE YOU our Son

I miss my "brother" Dearly....i cant think of Life without Lionel....and as i sit here and type this note, tears are streaming down my face.....lionel was my best friend.. and life for me will Never' be the same...I cannot begin to explain the pain in my heart as i feel my soul slowly being torn..piece by piece.....he always had things a bit harder but regardless...he was the nicest & most humble individual i have ever met'...always there to help a hand....and with no hesitation would give you the last dollarin his pocket if you needed it....I try to remember the Good times....but everytime i think of Lionel i cant help but cry.....i dont understand why anyone would ever want to harm or hurt him....i honestly believe that God saw how special he was and wanted him closer...sooner than later...I can never forget Lionel.....or the impact that he left on so many Lives.....My dream is to someday own some sort of non-profitable charity organization named after him....i think he would like that ....I just wished i could've told him how much i love and miss him....sometimes i dont even think its Real...i cant imagine Life without Lionel.....I pray that im just in a very long dream.....i hope that i can awake one day and see his face....I will always Love you Lionel..... May you rest in Peace and Happiness.

When my brother was killed the state gave him the killer the death penalty. This was 28 years ago. Since the killing, the criminal has got a free college decree, medical, meals, and visits. Our family is still waiting for justice. For all victims, be prepared, justice crawls for you and many times stands still.

Lionel was not that kinda guy "southern justice"....he was at a bar...he's from FL....not KC...he doesnt know where to be and where not to be.....he had housing in the area i believe....no offense but you are extremely in-sensitive regarding the situation.....if you had ever met or knew him....you would know.....and how can u question a man's character that you DONT EVEN KNOW!!!!....I pray everyday for peace for both myself and his mother......i just cant believe you can speak so ignorant about everything. and FYI. he was more than a man...I beleive he was an Angel that has now returned to GOD'....Bless your heart and please just review what you say before stating it.

@ i know - i can undertsand how you feel....and the sad thing is that this country's justice system is so twisted....the man that they arrested 28 years ago...that killed your brother and should have executed...could be a totally different person now...both inside and out.......i can feel your pain'...they say that time heals all.....but i dont think its true....a close death is like a bad scar...ya know?,....it may eventually look better....but its there for life.....God Bless you & your family's heart.

Sorry to disappoint you about my son being twenty two yrs old and what was he doing at a bar...... My son was raised to know God, he was baptised at the age of seventeen, we raised him to trust and respest everyone he came in contact with. He lived in a well kept home, but as usually, boys will be boys . If you knew my son, you would have had a diffrent opinion. Just think about this, twenty two and never had his ears or anywhere on his body pierced, no tatoo stamping all over him except for one on his forearm with a scripture. I know as a parent you cannot vow for your child all the way, but you can to some extent, and for this i say that my child was gunned down innocently. he happened to be in Kansas because of his high school fried whom he loved and respected so much.

I know that someday i will get my reward, as his friend rightfully puts it, God saw the heart that Lionel had and realized that he was too good for earth, so he took him away. If my son was a bad child, there would not be so many people mourning his loss. There is not a day that goes by that he is not talked about. For you to say that you have children and they are strictly monitored, thats so unfair, until wht age can you continue to monitor them ? just ask yourself ! He is not from Kansas, he is from Fl, so how could he tell what area is not fitt to go to .

First off this was a drug deal gone bad and he was running his mouth to the wrong person. And he was at jc bar. The crack head bar of junction city. Plus he was also at Foxy's Gentleman's clud which if he was raised to know "god" he would not of been at a strip club. So get the facts straight about this situation before you go running off at your mouth about this man be such a good child. And like southern justice said 22 yrs old is not a freaking child. That's a full grown man. But hey what else is new wanna be black man thug gets shot at a drug deal gone bad. Maybe you should of actually raised him to know god and he would still be here.

If it was legal, there would be no deal gone bad. How many deals go bad when you buy beer or liquor?

None since Al capone's day. Prohibition of marijuana serves no reasonable purpose and does much harm.

Drug prohibition was 100% racially motivated, if you do a little research. It was the Jim Crow 30`s in America, and a means of controlling Blacks and Hispanics.

Rumor is that the police got the wrong guy...but people are too scared to tell the truth.
