Cheating Wives-Why

Why

What is wrong with the women in this town? I have/had been married to a woman, I thought was my soul mate, for 13 years. Recently I discovered that she has had several affairs during our years together and now we are getting divorced. No I am not in the military, never have been, I've got a good job and we have lived in JC for many years. I have/had been faithful to her, the entire time we were married.
I've been talking to friends, and I even read some of the older posts here on Topix, and there seems to be a hugh up swing in the number of wives (or girlfriends) that have either been caught cheating or admitted to it.
My question is, why? Is there something in the water here, in the air they breathe? What? Or is it like this everywhere and I've just been too blind to see it.
The other day she told me that she married me because she felt I would never "hurt" her, but she never really gave her heart to me. What the hell does that even mean? She didn't want to get hurt by me, but she has no problem hurting me. Am I just that stupid, or does that comment make absolutly no sense.
Maybe people who have been, or currently are, going through something similar, will respond and share their thoughts on the subject.

Rats go where the food is. If there is food at home, they stay home. Think about it.

I have a friend whose marriage ended because his wife connected with someone on facebook, they say that today, 80% of all failed relationships/marriages end because of the internet, or rather "social media".
If someones going to cheat, they'll cheat no matter what, the internet just makes it a little easier to do so.

I don't suppose you have some kind of verifiable source for that information? Perhaps you're just making it up as you go along?:)

In my friend's case, there was plenty of "food" at home, his wife suddenly changed her mind about what she wanted on the menu.

No, it's just good manners, believe it or not. I'm not sure what school you (presumably) went to, but when I handed in my term papers, I was expected to source my information. I've always done so, throughout the past 15 years or so that I've engaged in various online discussions. On any given discussion forum, the more reputable, respected contributors voluntarily source their information, whenever they reference something. But maybe that's not the case in this little neighborhood.

It is, after all... Junction City... ;)

I have a facebook account and I've never cheated on my wife, and I have many friends that have accounts too and they've never cheated on their wives. But, they have had their wives cheat on them with someone they met(or knew)on facebook.
I accidently found out about my wife's affair when she left her facebook page open and I came across some conversations she had been having with an "old" friend. When I confronted her with it, she admitted everything and acted like it was no big deal. And no I wasn't spying on her, hell we had each other's login information on our accounts, and while she looked at mine from time to time, this was the first time I looked at hers. Maybe if I had looked at it sooner I could have changed things, but now it's too late.
Facebook is a tool, not the cause.

How about a little research? A little science?
Indeed, the profit models of many online-dating sites are at cross-purposes with clients who are trying to develop long-term commitments. A permanently paired-off dater, after all, means a lost revenue stream. Explaining the mentality of a typical dating-site executive, Justin Parfitt, a dating entrepreneur based in San Francisco, puts the matter bluntly:“They’re thinking,Let’s keep this fu**er coming back to the site as often as we can.” For instance, long after their accounts become inactive on Match.com and some other sites, lapsed users receive notifications informing them that wonderful people are browsing their profiles and are eager to chat.“Most of our users are return customers,” says Match.com ’s Blatt.

To read this thread, a newcomer would get the impression that Junction City men are all perfect angels who somehow all got tricked into marrying deceptive, cheating skanks. How the heck did that happen??:-/

Not at all what I meant when I started this thread, but yes it could seem that way.
However, a large majority of the older comments here are about wives cheating, and from talking to friends, and friends of friends, but it seems more women are currently cheating and ending relationships these days then men are. But that doesn't mean that women can't comment if they want to.

Women don't have morals and high standards like they should. They'll spread their legs to any man who makes enough money. Bc they think that's what gets a man.(Probably so) let her go, and the next one you come across, hold on to your wallet real good no matter how cute she is. I see it has she didn't want to get hurt until she was ready to move on to something better, than its all okay.
