GCA connection to injury
Shocking

United States

In recent days, GCA (new contractors for USD 475 custodial crew)forman badgered a custodian so severely, that that person tried to take his life by jumping off a bridge. He is now severely injured in a Topeka hospital. Did GCA contact the principal of the school he worked in to give an update on this situation? No. It was just by a fluke that anyone at the school found out about it. What happened to respect for human life? OR common decency. I still can not believe this could happen with no recourse for the company. We should be embarrassed by this... as individuals and as a community.

I did not hear anything about this in the news, what's up? Does USD475 have the news service in this area under their thumb also? Pretty bad when a school district can determine the news that the community gets to hear!

Generally our local media does not report suicide attempts and it would be poor taste, not to mention libelous to accuse a foreman of an organization of causing someone to jump off a bridge when there is not evidence that was the case.
What exactly would you want the school district to tell the media? "We had a custodian try to commit suicide."

Would agree that reporting of this would be in poor taste, HOWEVER "reality check", there is PLENTY of evidence as to the cause. GCA, the school board, and especially the foreman in question bear responsibility.

Not libelous if it is the truth. There is ALOT of evidence. I would like to know exactly what the school board is doing about this. Thank goodness the custodians have the courage to try to form a union. I wonder if that is one of the reasons GCA is harassing these poor workers. What a shameful reflection on that school district.

There is a lot of eye opening information about GCA if you look for it. Here is just one example:

Why does #USD 475 not care about its employees? Even if they are contracted out, they are still tied to the school district. Is saving a buck all that important to them--what about employees and their families--do they not care?

Rumor has it that the entire board knows about this event. We'll see what happens in the BOE meetings.

What ever happened to the custodian who tried to commit suicide? My prayers go out to him and his family. I'm sure GCA could care less.
