When my little brother worked at Cracker Barrel a couple years ago, he told me it was the CLEANEST KITCHEN in town. He's worked at ALOT of food service places. The servers are good and the food is good and you should eat there!

i totally and compleatly agree with Embarrased CoWorker..... the person who wrote that poeple need to tip 5 per hour per person holy cow are you kidding as was said these are hard times and some or our guest are on a fixed income ....it is horribly sad that the person who wrote the blog saying that is more then likely a crappy server and believes he or she deserves 5 per person per hour......well im sorry but the harsh reality is you dont need to be working at OUR Cracker Barrel because you just sounded pathetic,...... And to all who have had a not so god experience please come and give us another chance we would love a chance to prove we are the Best

I too am a servier at the Cracker Barrel in Junction City and I must say that I am truly embarrassed for whomever wrote this! First I'd like to start by saying that NOBODY makes $5 a person from every table they serve! That is absolutly riduculous! The etiquette for tipping a server for food service is between 15% and 20% of the bill and can go up or down depending on how well the guest feels they were treated. Notice I used the term "guest", because at Cracker Barrel we do NOT use the term customer because we want folks to feel welcome and not like they are just another person through our door.
We all have guest that we feel do not tip properly, but that is all part of the job. We need to consider that these are hard times for EVERYONE and that some folks simply cannot afford to leave as much as others. As others have already stated on this site, we ALL need to check ourselves and how we treat our guest. I have also found through the years that it all generally "comes out in the wash"...meaning that I may make $1 on a $10 bill and turn right around and make $20 on a $60 bill. Whomever wrote the orginal blog on here seriously needs to consider a change in career!! You are making those of us that work hard for our money look bad!

I have read this posting with interest and then did my own checking. It seems there is a difference of oppions between some of the servers at Cracker Barrel. There is also some customers that some of the servers dont like. There are some of the servers that do like these customers. The servers that do not like these customers get low tips. The servers that like these customers get great tips.

The same problem also apply to managers. The managers also treat these customers different. The servers pick up on the managers attitude and follow the managers lead.

I understand that one of these customers who has a large investment in Cracker Barrel (CBRL) makes a report to Cracker Barrell HQ in TN every day and has sent an article to the WSJ on the treatment he receive. CBRL stock is down about 2% today due to a report being published in the WSJ by this customer.

Lets hope the customer service improves and the servers and management can get back to making Cracker Barrel money at the Junction City Store. Servers will receive tips for service not by the time a customer sets at a table.

I work at Cracker Barrel and I am Fed-Up with all the BS that is going on there. Servers are trying to do their jobs and make the customers happy. Management is micro managing us to a point we can not do our jobs correct. Some management is so hiper that they really just get in your way. Management needs to back off and give us room to do our work.

This cracker barrel is beginning to treat customers like Denny's use to do. If they don't clean this mess up soon Junction City will invite Cracker Barrell to leave as they ae giving a bad rap to the area. Denny's was invited to leave and they went out of business.

The city will star getting harder on inspections until you can not pass the city code or you will be fined for doing repairs without a permit Your parking lot will not pass code for big busses and the list can go on and on.

You have got to be kidding me right? Cracker Barrel giving Junction City a bad name? Have you looked around? Are you aware of where you live? Junction City is the armpit of middle America! You want to talk about parking lots not passing codes? Have you driven through Walmarts parking lot...pot holes as big as the Grand Canyon!
You people on here obviously know NOTHING about the food service business! Comparing Cracker Barrel to Denny's is like comparing apples and oranges! Cracker Barrel is by far the cleanest place to eat in this town! These folks work hard to give you a nice place to eat in this nasty town and you are all ungrateful! Quite honestly this is a free country...if you don't want to eat at Cracker Barrel, then don't! No one is holding a gun to your head!

Server why would anyone want to eat at Cracker Barrel when the servers want $5 per person per Hour to eat there. That is table rent. Do you also need to tip for service or non-service which you get at this time. I was under the impression a tip was to insure proper service how do you justify a tip when you do not receive proper service or no service. A $5 per person per Hour tip is to much when there is no service provided. Your hiper management does not help when people just wany a quite meal. You have some servers that do not want to even speak to some customers because they think they do not tip the proper $5 per hour tips. I have overheard servers talking about customers they do not want to serve. I know you don't want the public to know this but most of Cracker Barrel staff is high school drop outs or have a record of jail time. Cracker Barrel neeeds to set up a GED program for these employees that way they can get better pay and not have to deal in drugs for the rest of their lives. In the mean time server just keep doing your job.

First and foremost...you seriously need to educate yourself! Simply the fact that you lump all the servers at Cracker Barrel into one pile simply based on the fact that one idiot seems to live in a fantasy that they deserve $5 a person, shows that you have the brains God gave a rock! Second of all if you knew ANYTHING about Cracker Barrel, you would know that they perform background checks on ALL their employees! They do NOT hire felons! Furthur more, I promise you that the majority of the employees are high school graduates and most have at least some college...matter of fact we even have a college teacher that works for us...maybe she could assist you in your spelling and grammar..."hiper" is spelled "hyper"!!! Get a clue!! It amazes me that so many people have nothing better to do with there time then to sit around and complain anonymously on a community blog. Seriouly get a life!!

I was visiting my family in Junction City when we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. We were setting in the back room when our order came out completely wrong. We asked the server to correct the order. A person named Mike came stomping to our table screaming at one of our family members to stop screaming. There was no one screaming excepy this person Mike which said he was the manager.

Our Family member called Cracker Barrel HQ in TN and reported this. To this day Cracker Barrel nor Mike has tried to make this correct. Mike was the only one that was out of line but non or our family raised their voices.

Cracker Barrel will lose lots of business over this because all it would have taken is an apology to our family member from Mike after he came down off his high. I now understand that mike will not even talk to this family when he goes in to eat.

A I am Sorry for screaming at you goes a long way in business. Mike when you are wrong you are wrong. Right is Right even at Cracker Barrel.

Bob you do not even have a clue about what you are talking about. Our family was treated like a dog at Cracker Barrel and we are not slaves to Cracker Barrel we were customers that did nothing wrong. I called CB HQ on thursday to try to clear this up. I had to leave ny phone number where CB HQ was going to call me back. This is Monday and I still have not received my phone call from CB. I have just called my lawyers Office where I will start a suit against CB for this treatment. I want CB to explain this $5 per person per Hour rule they have to a Jury. I do have whitness to this from 2 servers. Then I want Mike to explain why he was yelling at our family when none of the Family was doing anything wrong. It was CB that messed up our orders, Not us. It was Mike yelling at us Not us yelling at Mike. It was CB telling us we owed Tips at $5 per person per Hour Not us. We have many whitnesses to all of this. When Mike was yelling at us most of the CB other customers were looking at us as if we were having a big fight when the only person that was yelling was Mike the Manager. None of this was the servers problem she turned the order into the kitchen and delivered what the kitchen gave her. Our Family did not deserve this treatment and we will not set back and be treated like second rate people. One last thing Bob, You do not have the right to tell Speak out what to do what do you think you are GOD. If this had happened to your family I would feel the same way about CB.

Looks like "Customer from Denver" and "Speak out" are the same people. Notice neither has a city listed under their name.

I too have called CB Headquarters and it is against the waitress that is expecting the $5.00 an hour tip. They are investigating the IP where these comments are coming from.

I spoke with the General Manager and he also told me he was going to look into this.

If I were the "slanderous" people who are writing these comments, I highly recommend you spend the $19.95 and have this removed from Topix before a big law suit comes against you from CB.

No - I am not an employee of CB and never have been. I am retired and a resident of Junction City.
