Sewer broke at sonic this morning. Still served all day long. Human waste in the kitchen and under all the machines. Stank so bad it made us sick. Our manager wouldn't shut down and we were told to not say anything. I heard some customers complained and the health inspecter was called. I worked I'm the mess for 5 hours.
I am sorry if anyone got sick. Not the employees fault. |

The local radio station will say nothing, Sonic is a big advertiser.
The newspaper will bury the story, Sonic is a big advertiser. Sonic was shut down by the health department and people may have gotten ill from ingesting human waste materials. It's sad that our local news is more interested in dollars than protecting the public. |

More people need to write about this location. There is many problems here. The standing water all the time in the playground area sure makes it fun for my kids to play. Anything else?

Health Department shut them down yesterday afternoon. Broken/open sewer and human feces/urine on the kitchen floor and in the cooler. Still closed now.

I ate there a couple of weeks ago, and like the person earlier posted, there is standing water in the playground area, trash here and there. That place needs to be cleaned up.
This whole mess does not jive with the high cost for someone to live in Geary County, more specifically Junction City. One of the highest taxed counties in Kansas. WHere are the high dollar places to eat and shop at? |

When I came to Junction City many years ago, this was a nice place to go. It beat out all other fast food at the time. The food was fresh, good, and, of good quality and quantity. The outside area was clean and well kept and, although I have never been inside, I believe it was kept the same way. Those days at the JC Sonic are gone! The food is horrible and the service is worse than that! And, the outside area if horribly dirty, dingy, and unkept. It is currently managed by Suman Barua (sp?). He was brought here by the franchise owner two to three years ago from a Topeka Sonic location. According to reports out of Sonic at that time, his arrival was to straighten out the operation of this location and restore it to what it once was. This has not happened. My personal opinion is that Suman is scared of the franchise owner and will not stand up to him in-so-far as to what this location not only needs but must have. It has become a typical Junction City fast food establishment that is ONLY out for the dollars it can gleen out of the community (including and possibly primarily Fort Riley) and put nothing back into the operation. The employee turnover there is astonishing!! One of the big problems is the low pay in return for the harssness of the job, no doubt. There are probably few to no attractive benefits. If pay and incentives were corrected upward, then perhaps employees would stay there long enough to even know where to park. I noticed yesterday (Sunday) that they had reopened for business. I will not be returning there. And, if what "employee" posted above is correct about having to sign some document not to speak of the conditions there, then I would consider that to be a legal matter, possibly even coersion. If this was done as a condition of job retention, not only do I personally believe it could be illegal, Suman and/or any others involved in that should be outright ashamed of themselves.

The franchise owner also owns stores in Salina and Hays-not sure where else. They treat their employees like dirt, pay minimum wage, let the managers do whatever they want, lie to their employees, work them like dogs-especially if the employee seems to know what they are doing. The ones that don't get promoted to manager/asst manager, while the ones that do know what is going on might get to be a crew leader. They use the threat of job loss to keep the employees scared and in line. Given that most of the employees are kids and don't know their rights, it is no wonder they get away with what they do.

This is complete BS and you know it!! i want proof..the only thing that the crew members are forced to sighn are the typical "Run or Skate Policy" (which half of the carhops are lazy and dont do anyways) Cash Control Sheet, and the Probation Paper, YOU SHOULD GO FIND A NEW JOB cause obviously you aren't fitted well for customer/food services. If you can't survive at an EASY!!! JOb like Sonic then you can't really survie anywhere, time to re evaluate your career plan...YOUR FIRED!!! haha
