The fifth and final defendant in the double homicide case of a Waverly Hall couple has pleaded guilty.
Joshua Douglas Pounds, 22, pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced by Harris County Superior Court Judge Frank Jordan Jr. to four years in prison, followed by six on probation. A charge of concealing the death of another against Pounds was dropped at his Friday hearing, said Chief Assistant District Attorney Alonza Whitaker. “He returned with two of the juveniles that had been involved, took some property,” Whitaker said of Pounds’ role in the June 28 murders of Jerry Church, 61, and Sherlene Robinson, 57. Pounds had told investigators that Richard J. Strickland, 17, and Gage Q. Bryant, 14, had approached him about opening lockboxes before the bodies were discovered. They took him to Church’s house, but when he saw the bodies in the living room, he left, an investigator has said. Dereck Cox, 19, Kevin Thomas McKay, 22, Strickland and Bryant pleaded guilty to various crimes Feb. 6. Cox and McKay got life plus decades for pleas to murder, robbery, burglary and theft by taking. Strickland and Bryant each got 20 years plus probation for robbery and burglary. |
