Long story. Sorry, just venting....
Has anyone had an issue with BPD profiling their teenage kids? I sent my teenage daughter (17) to the store @ 11:00pm on a Saturday to get a gallon of milk and eggs for breakfast as my younger son had a few friends spend the night. She was leaving the area we live in (Oak Valley) and was stopped a little bit after turning on the main road, the reason she was given for the stopage was that the front of her car was just over the solid white line @ the stop sign (well, to see all traffic you have to pull up past the line). The officer, who she said had Garrett on his name tag ask her if she was just leaving a party in the area and basically accused her of drinking. She explained that she was going to the store for her mother, he asked if she wanted him to call and verify which she said i have no problem with you doing so. He let her go with a warning but pretty much said she wasn't telling the truth.
Here's the good part.. The following Saturday I was driving her car to the store around 10:30pm to pick up a few things I forgot earlier for church the next morning.. Guess what, exact same location I was pulled over and when I asked why I was pulled over there was no response.. Officer Garrett's only response was there was a party in the area and they thought there was teenage drinking going on. I'm all about enforcing laws and not allowing underage drinking/driving but i really feel like this was more of him remembering the car from the previous weekend (profiling) and was hoping to catch her... unfortunately it was the Mom not the daughter. If he is really looking to nab drunk drivers all he has to do is hang out near the restaurant row area north of Burleson.

Interesting, If it happens again i would think profiling would be the case. Have you spoke with any of your neighbors that have teenagers?

BPD is a great organization but they do have one officer (whom I don't know the name of) that is extremely power hungry and egotistical. He seems to be very hungry to prove himself so he does seem to profile teens. It might be that your daughter's car is similar to a known druggy in town so they may be mistaken her as a druggy or friend of a druggy. They are working hard to get rid of drugs in this town so they do stalk certain homes and vehicles. I think that is a good thing but they should be careful in how they handle it. Profiling innocent teens is the fastest way to get teens to not trust law enforcement and make them have a bad taste in their mouth about police. The leadership at the PD is very good so maybe bringing this up with someone in authority at the PD would help.

I decided to take your advise and see if the PD had a complaint area and they do!! I just dont know with providing all the information they require before making a complaint would be a wise idea, might as well put a target and my family. I think what we will do is just follow him around on and off duty and video/document his every move then turn it over to the PD Chief.
