Why can't they cut his hair enough to get it above his shoulders and comply with the dress code? It would still be long and feminine-looking. I guess that's the look they're going for. When they changed schools, they should have checked the local rules. If they can't follow a simple rule like length of hair, what other rules will they be unable to follow? Seems to me they're setting their child up for failure.

I agree with Sherry. I live in Godley and anytime you go to register your child they tell you that if you have a boy then they want the hair above the shoulders and their shirt tucked in. They knew the rules before he was ever enrolled. If you have that big of a problem with the rules then it is simple move somewhere else. Plus, don't we all have a dress code. I know when I go to work there is a dress code. What are they showing their kid when they go out into the real world and have to find a job?

I live in godly and acctually its more than just above the shoulders. From what i understand the family did not know about the hair thing, why else would they try to enroll. They violated chris' rights and the family has a right to stand up for him. Look at it from his perspective. Hes 12 yrs old and is beasicly told he isnt good enough because of his looks, if the kid is uncomfortable with his hair shorter than it is then why cut it and make him miserable. He just wants to be himself and if that means standing out then let him stand out if thats what he wants! He seems like a good kid so just leave him alone, all he wants is to make friends and be accepted for who HE is not what others want him to be. Keep Stronge Chris, I Believe In You!!!!!

for CHRIS RIGHTS. If you want to come off as a know it all, you might do better if you would SPELL PROPERLY. Isn't name calling a wee bit childish? Sound's kinda like you're judging people for having their opinion's. This is America, and everyone is entitled to have their own, even if you think your's is the only one that matter's. And why would you call someone a HATER, just for speaking their opinion? Are you one of these people that has to be RIGHT all the time? Once again--- everyone is entitled to their own opoinion. so--- DEAL WITH IT!!!

This is my son and at the age of 9 my son asked Dad can I have long hair? I said ok I tell you what you can if You Keep It Clean & Brushed,Out of Your Eyes. He has done what I have asked FOLLOWED the RULES. He has had long hair 4th grade NO PROBLEM. 5th grade NO PROBLEM. 6th grade NO PROBLEM. He has played on a U9 U10 U11 U12 U13 SELECT soccer clubs NO PROBLEM. From Kindergarden to 5th grade he had really great grades and in the 6th they went down a little. So as parents we decided to find a better area to live and looked at schools. I found Josha to be a peaceful place to live and the Godley schools to be a good choice for my son. I did research on the web and never found anything about hair ,however I did on clothes. Maybe I messed up when looking and maybe it is on the web, again I found nothing on it. Here is the PROBLEM : I was told I cant ENROLL HIM BECAUSE OF HIS HAIR <THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW> I did contact the super of the school district and asked why cant he enroll my son and was told his hair. <THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW> . I told the super what if I dress him in nice slacks belt shirt tucked in with a button up shirt or a Polo shirt and I will trim his hair then can he enroll and again was told NO!
Then I went back with my son with his hair 3in shorter and was told we can enroll him but he will be in ISS till his hair is cut. I asked will he get the proper education as everyone else and was told their will be 1 teacher in ISS with him. But will he get an equall education as everyone else and was told NO! <THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW> My son regaurdless of his hair has a right to a proper EDUCATION just like any other child. So I start to talk to the super about my son and he interupts and says lets cut through the chase as long as his hair is like that he will be in ISS. Really I say, you tell me why? The 1st time I was told "health issues"and "policy" ok I say but WHY? No other answer. NOW I ask why policy and then I say why what is the difference between your reseptionists hair and his? GENDER if you did not hear that or see that GENDER. <THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW> I left, the last words is said "MY GRANDFATHER FOUGHT IN WAR FOR OUR AMERICAN RIGHT OUR COUNTRY AND YOU WILL NOT DICTATE WHAT MY SON DOES. Now he shows up on TV and says BULLIES are the issue I BELIEVE THAT HE NEEDS TO DEAL WITH THE BULLIES. AND LEAVE MY SONS RIGHTS ALONE!!!!!!! So my son Chris has followed the rules my rules. The schools have no RIGHT to stop my son from a PROPER EDUCATION and if he is in ISS he needs to have teachers teach him and be qualified to teach each class even if it is Choir, PE , Math , English, Spanish,Biology, HISTORY you know what that is dont you ? If not maybe you should read up on it and that would teach some of you about <OUR AMERICAN RIGHTS> And those of you who disagree I respect your opinion however as someone else quoted "SCHOOLS RULES DO NOT TRUMP THE CONSTiTutION"

First off i dont see what my spelling has to do with anything and its not that i dont respect someones opinion its that this kid is 12 years old and everyone is calling him names stateing that he is trying to get away with breaking the rules and he probly doesnt even see it as that but more as he is being judge for what he looks like and who he is, and thats not fair!

A hypocrite is a person who promotes the use of illegal drug's, while at the same time quotes scriptures. Now, one would have to ask this question---where is the utter sense in this? For a person(and I use that term lightly) that seem's to think they know it all, one would think someone that use's illegal drug's would simply keep their mouth SHUT, now would'nt you? HMMMMM, now that's a thought! To most people--- that would be POT(since you like this stuff so much)CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!! Keep-um Coming!

Ok, I really don't care about this kid's hair. To the person purporting to be his father, Alan McGregor: Is this kid Brazilian? I mean, he could be, I suppose, even with that last name...but if he's not, maybe he ought to shoot for playing soccer for the U.S. Also, is there more to this than his wanting to emulate soccer players? He can check out Landon Donovan or David Beckham and maybe get a different hair perspective for soccer players.

he is being judge for what he looks like and who he is, and thats not fair! AWESOME STATEMENT and in part is true. Is this kid Brazilian? No he is not and that has nothing to do with his hair. At the age of 9 he asked me can I have long hair. I said yes however to keep long hair it must be clean brushed and out of your eyes. He kept my rules as a parent. Here is the problem READ VERY CAREFULLY. The first problem was against the law. I was told he cant enroll with his hair like that. By law if a child is in district they must enroll him. So if rules are rules why was I told he could not be enrolled? So to the last question, He is not trying to emulate any soccer playeys. Chris is Chris. < look beside the s thta is a period.

Texas has "independent school districts" for a reason! They are able to make their own rules for dress codes and behavior, its not dictated by state.
While I think that as long as the hair is not distracting he should be able to have long hair, but the fact remains that its LIFE! There are alot of buisness' that would not hire someone with long hair over a clean cut short haired male! It just looks for professional. What "he plays soccer" has to do with it, idk. Who cares?! Not all soccer players have long hair. I beileve as parents you have to make a choice, hair or education?! While it may not be "fair", well lifes just not. Rules are made to be followed, you are teaching your child to question those rules. And no its NOT standing up for himself. Standing up for himself would be if they made the rule in spite of him, it was already in place, and they need to be followed!
