Duell is a likable guy. Just a plain ole politician. I know he is a dr., and a drummer, but his being a politician is kind of hard to like. On the other hand, there's Scott. Not a likable guy. Seems to have a big CHIP on his shoulder. He has whinned about so many things it's hard to listen to him anymore. Sort of like calling wolf too often.

I'm not a Matt Scott fan but the more I read, see, and hear of Bob Deuell, I think less of Deuell. He seems to be very cozy with the lobbyist.

This is a rare occassion for me where I am actually siding with Matt Scott on something. I think Scott is in the right on the HOA issue.

Well money or not, I'm giving credit to Scott for calling out Senator Deuell. I'm thinking Deuell needs to stick to practicing medicine and get out of politics. It's looking more and more like he's selling out to the special interests.

I'm predicting Scott runs for state senate. I haven't heard him mention it specifically but he sure seems interested in what goes on down in Austin.

Maybe he will build apts and a HARBOR #2 in Austin, if he runs for a Senate seat. Haha...looks what he's done to ROCKWALL.

LOL! Now that's funny! I can just imagine "high quality" subsidized housing centrally located around the state capital building. It would have to be built with "austin limestone" though in order to perserve the integrity of the neighborhood :-)

Wow, if I am reading that right, there was a LOT of people testifying against that bill. Maybe Deuell was right ...

I think Matt Scott made a big deal out of the HOA argument to get his name in front of more people. He seems to abide by the rule, "even bad attention is better than no attention at all." His "Sights" seem to be set on the Mayor office. Surely there are enough sensible people in Rockwall to not vote in this screwball. But then again, they voted in Hussein Obamma.

Rockwall needs Matt Scott. Do you know how boring it would be without Matt Scott? The papers are terrible, absolutely boring. Just some kid getting some fluff award or some other stuffed animal type B.S. There is not news ever.

Rockwall County newspaper is the worse of the two, its even more full of feel good fluff and basically has two pages of Anti-Obama cartoons and Bill O Riley crap. Every now and then I laugh at the Obama cartoons, but it gets boring of the same old things over and over. How that paper publishes twice a week and can last, I have yet to figure out. Afterall, there is no news in Rockwall because its perfect. We have roughly 200 crimes a month in Rockwall and they never reach the paper. No weekly crime update/ police blotters.

I would be bored without Matt Scott. He fights an old senile lady and the No Higher Taxes Group, he fights Senator Duell. No one is off limits if they suck. Matt Scott is like a fighting Irishman, one tough guy.

I doubt Matt will run for Duell's spot. State Senator gets paid only a few thousand a year and Matt makes way too much to settle for that. The only reason he would run is if Duell eggs him on. But I have yet to see Duell respond in the papers.

The last overwrought Rockwall council member who ran against Duell didn't even manage to carry his home county. That fellow had far less baggage than Matt.

I hope that means Scott will not run. I just can not stomach that guy. He is sort of "prissy".

Did Mary Lou Hawkins-Curtis post most of the items on this forum? NHT is a dead organization, you don't have the minions to pick fights anymore.

I have read Topix for some time but not posted until now. Don't know about the other post, but think way too much attention is paid to the group you mention. Seems like every dissenting remark about Rockwall, the council, the commissioners' or any part of government is blamed on that group. Is it hard for someone to think there are others who have the same opinion about our local government? It's comical for the above post to start ranting about the NHT group being dead. Must have been or still is a powerful group for so many to be so afraid and try to downplay a group that opposes anything that is not taken as the norm and then disliked because that group protest what is fed to them. Sounds like what is happening in Iran right now.

All the people who testified against that HOA bill in the House were on the boards of HOAs. Their big group, CAI, rented buses to bring them there to testify against it. So they were clearly biased. They make a lot of money from the lack of oversight of HOAs.

Funny thing is, in the end, though, after everyone had their say, CAI supported the bill. They knew there needed to be HOA reform because of all the bad publicity they have been getting.

Deuell killed it because he gets much $$$$ from developers. He's a hack.

By the way, I've heard him called a lot of things, but that's the first time I've heard Matt Scott described as "prissy." That's humorous. Have you ever met the guy? Not what I'd call prissy. Other things? Maybe. Prissy? No.

Where is a corroboration that CAI, whatever that is, supported the bill? All I see is Matt Scott, a couple of left wing groups and a Democrat senator in favor if this bill.
