LET'S SEE ALL OUTSIDERS DRIVING UP PROPERTY VALUES.RUNNING ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE AWAY TO FIND JOBS OTHER THAN WORKING A SLAVES FOR MIN WAGE..NO HEALTH CARE ...AND THE INDIANS WITH THEIR TAX FREE LIVING...SHOOT ANYTHING ANYTIME...BUYING LARGE CHUNKS OF LAND WITH CASINO DOLLARS.(TAX FREE).LONG COLD WINTERS ...I THINK THAT WALLOWA COUNTY IS THE WORST PLACE MOVE ON GET OUT AND STAY AWAY...VISIT LEAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ANY WHERE...BUT HERE..

Wow does someone have a chip on their shoulder or what! We made an 800+ mile move to Joseph, Oregon nearly 2 years ago. It is different and can be difficult if you don't have your "ducks in line" before you come. Real Estate is complicated here ... lots of properties are not listed on the Web, so you need to spend LOTS of time here before you even talk to a realtor. Drive all the back roads and city streets to get a feel for things. With the prices getting higher (still ... not like some other areas), there are more and more FSBO properties. A few old-school, angry locals can be cruel at first, but there are PLENTY of wonderful, friendly folks with a huge array of interests. We have kids in the school here and they absolutely love it! The downs would be lack of decent wage jobs, no major shopping, winter driving issues along with a very long, cold winter season. The ups far outweigh the downs!

Until about 15 years ago when we still had a mill there and people were still employed. Before all the land where we used to hunt on got gobbled up by rich californians and posted.When you used to know all the people that lived there. This was before all the drugs came into town. Yeah it used to be a real nice place.
