Number of Louisiana towns have pit bull bans while other states outlaw breed-specific legislation

There are 23 comments on the NOLA.com story from Dec 10, 2014, titled Number of Louisiana towns have pit bull bans while other states outlaw breed-specific legislation. In it, NOLA.com reports that:

When a young girl from Louisiana lamented on TV and computer screens around the world last month that her village was threatening to take away her pet pit bull , Zeus, the Internet reacted swiftly. Moreauville Mayor Timmy Lemoine and alderman Penn Lemoine received a flood of messages, some hurling insults and calling them names like "Nazi," pleading for them to repeal the small village's vicious dog ban passed in October.

I was not aware the town had such a ban. Seems unnecessary. I've heard of a couple issue and they neither involved a pit bull. I wonder if this has ever been enforced.
I hope that with this recent attention in the media the mayor will rethink it.

The more logical solution and the most obvious, is to simply enforce existing state laws, including the leash laws. The fear must be that these dogs will escape and attack people/other animals. At least the pit bull serving as a beloved pet and helper to a disabled child in Moreauville was saved from seizure and euthanasia in late November, but only because they repealed their ordinance. If we want to keep our ordinance, and if it would allow such a thing to happen here, maybe it could be amended to allow exceptions, if not simply repealed.

You people putting flames, dim bulbs, and peanuts on these posts must have some serious screws loose and/or are dim bulbs yourselves. The "X"es are certainly okay, but none of these posts reflect stupidity, nuttiness, or incitement and Ca mon was certainly not trying to make a joke in his post, so why the Groucho Glasses there?. The mayor and council do need to think about this ordinance.

Christmas will be here shortly, Laddie. Perhaps Santa will bring you an I.Q. well above that which you so proficiently display on this site.

You know I believe you to be a jerk, but in all honesty I sincerely wish you and yours a merry and joyous Christmas.

And you are clearly a lot dumber than I thought.

Happy trolling in the New Year and I hope you continue to derive pleasure from ridiculous attacks.

Jerk is an inadequate pejorative for you and the ones I can come up with violate the rules of decorum and of decent public forums.

The hypocrisy with which you sanctimoniously wish me holiday greetings is disgusting, as are you.

Your reply was as expected. In any case, I remind you that this is the time of year we should all put aside those differing views we confront regularly on this site and share "the reason for the season". Enjoy our differences, our different views and our different abilities to discuss issues which matter as well as those that don't amount to a hill of beans. There is a difference, you know.

Happy...Merry...and Hopes are extended that you and your loved ones will enjoy the best and most wonderful Christmas ever.

There is a clear, unambiguous, difference between disagreeing about things and resorting to name-calling in an attempt to be superior and "win" debates when you have present no argument on the other side - and that difference is as wide as the widest ocean. If you can't see the difference, you are truly dumb or on a different plane of existence..

I wish you the most miserable holidays and new year of your miserable existence and, unlike you, I am being honest and sincere.

Since you are clairvoyant you already knew exactly what I would post, so I have, again, wasted my time. Go to Hades with my blessing.

I can't let you have it both ways, I. e., you can't be contemptibly arrogant until called out, then piously take the high ground.

As someone else once said, "Mean people don't bother me a bit. Mean people who disguise themselves as nice people bother me a lot."

So, in that spirit and the spirit of the holiday season, double my last post.

What a sad and unhappy life you must lead. I'll pray for you and those like you, but thank God there aren't too many like you.

I also wish you a Merry Christmas because you sure do need it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are not "observer" and that your comments are sincere.

Contrary to the assumptions you have made, I am actually a happy person, have a good life, and I do what I can to help others and our community.

I am not a mean person, but I do not believe turning the other cheek is always the best approach, particularly when dealing with people like observer.

Thank you for your prayers. We all need them. You might want to send one up for observer.

If you are sincere, I sincerely wish you the merriest of Christmases. Don't ever lose your concern for others.

P. S. Here is a quote, allegedly by, of all people, Al Capone:

"Don't mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember about me."

I don't know if this was actually said by Capone or, if it was, whether he was sincere when he said it, but it is unfortunate we sometimes have to deal with people that way. Otherwise, we can become their victims forever.

Thank you, countrylad, for your Christmas wishes. I still believe you could benefit from being a lot less aggressive and have a little more compassion for those who may not agree with your views. Especially at this time of year.

"For God so loved the world...." Try it. It works.

If I was doing what you say, I would wholeheartedly agree with you. However, if you will look at the whole thread and the original post from "observer" that got this whole tangent started:

"Christmas will be here shortly, Laddie. Perhaps Santa will bring you an I.Q. well above that which you so proficiently display on this site. You know I believe you to be a jerk,..."

I think you have to agree this is not a statement of disagreement with my opinion, but a personal attack having nothing to do with the opinion I expressed.

Then, Christmas greetings were proffered. Do you honestly believe "observer" was sincere in those wishes? At no point does "observer" disagree with the opinions I expressed. S/he simply dismisses them as stupid.

Does this person deserve compassion? If you believe so, we will just have to disagree, but this and the comments I have already posted are the last things I have to say on the subject of my responses to "observer".

I guess the ordinance which was the original purpose of this thread is not one worthy of further discussion either, but the issue is an important one.

Again, Merry Christmas to you and may you have a prosperous new year..

Wonder why we don't see Countrylad post on here anymore> Just scroll up, read his posts and look at how each one was judged, and by how many. What an unhappy and vile man. Personally, I'm glad he is no longer on this site.
