Mr. Jim Woods may very well be one of the most corrupt and dishonest businessmen in the entire Tri Cities.

I have had several dealings with Mr. Woods (he works out of his home on Hairetown Rd in Jonesborough), we had several high dollar items come up missing when he was responsible for running the auctions. He and his son are literally thick as thieves. Stay away from this guy for your Auction & Realty needs.

I can attest to the fact that he is crooked and dishonest. I have rented a house from him in the past and it was nothing but trouble. Mr. Woods is happy to collect rent, but he will not get anything fixed. Don't know about his auctions, but I do know about his rental properties. He is very quick to steal a deposit too.

Since the discussion on this guy seems to be heating up a bit allow me to provide a bit more information. As we were closing down out construction & contracting business, we counted on Mr. Woods to handle the equipment auction for us. Our trust was very misplaced. I strongly caution against doing business with this gentleman, his indiscretions cost my partner and I over $25,000. Due to contract stipulations, he has avoided liability claims but our insurance covered only a fraction of the cost of the lost equipment. Buyer beware, Mr. Woods is a very dishonest man.

I sold my home prior to moving away from Johnson City, used Jim Woods Realty because I did not want the stress of selling a home without using a realtor. I thought that by using a small town local business I would be doing myself a favor. I was mistaken, the fees charged were far higher than we agreed. He likes to do business on "a handshake and a man's good word", well he knows nothing of honor or keeping one's word. I hate to just jump on the dogpile here, but people need to be warned about this charlatan.

While I can not speak to Mr. Woods conduct outside of my own experiences, my wife and I used him to auction a house and property in Jonesborough. We find him to be extremely patient with our many questions, thorough in carrying out his commitments, and fair in his pricing. Did we get what we wanted from the auction? No, but auctioneers don't control the weather or turn-out to an auction. Did we get what the market would bear? Yes, and that involved Mr. Woods taking a cut in his own commission to make happen. Would we use him again?
Yes.

I know Jim well. In fact we go back probably 30 years or more. I know he is a remarkable business man who always goes the extra mile and is always respectful to everyone, especially clients. I have done deals with Jim many times over the years and he has always been a straight talker and upright man. He is involved with many charities and local affairs. What I see when I read these posts is comments by folks who do not understand a situation so here they go on ranting online a bunch of nonsense because you have no real substantial case. But like they say "ya can't fix stupid."

I don't want to get caught up in all of the gossip and drama that these unsatisfied men and women have created. I do want to go on the record and say that Jim Woods and his family are good people. I believe them to be very honest people who are good at what they do for a living. Too many of you are quick to judge a successful businessman. My wife and I used Jim when we were looking for a Condo in Johnson City, TN and we were more than satisfied with how he conducted business. Jim is not the kind of person who tries to make a quick buck on a rental deposit. I'm sure that if Jim did not reimburse someone for their deposit on a rental, they were undeserving of it. It seems like many of you are trying to take away Jim's credibility. I would reccomend Jim Woods Realty to everyone. Jim has always been a fair and honest man which is why he has been successful.

I can tell you from a recent transaction that Jim Woods is one of the most dishonest liar that I have dealt with in my 62 years of my life. I used him this year to auction a business property in Jonesborough across from Taco Bell. He only had one buyer show up which now I realize was prearrange with the other crook in Jonesborough, The Coward of the County, whom just lost the election. I am following through by have a formal complaint made to real estate board....

We also used Jim Woods to auction a house and only one buyer showed up which in hindsight, I realize now was prearranged. The house went for much, much less than market value, the auction of the house contents was a complete and utter disaster with his son Ashley as the auctioneer and ended after only a couple hours with countless items never even put up for bid after we were assured by Mr. Woods prior to the auction beginning that everything would be sold in one day. I had several comments from those in attendance that it was the most poorly managed auction they had ever attended and several people asked why certain items were never placed up for bidding. The truthful answer was so Ashley could take the remaining items and pad his own pocket. I wouldn't recommend Jim Woods or Ashley to sell anything you value. Only wish we had been warned ahead of time.
