This story breaks my heart. God bless those poor children I pray they finally receive the life and love they deserve. May God also bless the family caring for these children as given the circumstances, times will definitely be tough for a while. I also hope the parents pay for what they've done. What in the world is wrong with the parents?!?!?!

I can't believe how stupid people in this world are. Sometimes I believe people should be required to have parenting liscenses. Stop multiplying your retardeds nobody wants your mentally challenged genes passed down to your kids.

So many people want children and can't have them. It's a shame that those that CAN don't appreciate the gift that God gave them and take care of them. Poor children. They didn't ask for this. God bless each of them.

My heart goes out to those kids. I pray that their life can be straightened out and they can have a life they deserve. Any mother or person period in their right mind wouldnt have let this go on for so long. Even their grandmother should be held responsible. Poor or not any person needs running water. Those babies probably froze over the winter. If the parents would have at least sent them to school they couldve had meals, ways of bathing and of course education. Those parents have no heart. Worthless people

After seeing the grandmother on the news, she should have her ass hauled into jail too. She admitted she knew what was going on with those poor kids...why is she still free??? She is as guilty as the parents. Anyone who knew those kids were being treated like they were, deserves to be put under the jail and never released. Arrest Granny too!!

I hope for the kids sake, and to forego even more trauma, that they are kept together in the Foster care system. I know its hard to place 5 children together especially ones of that age, but I am sure all they have ahd is each other for so long......

The dam stupid parents need to be incarcerated forever....no eazy way out of this.
The stupid relatives should have pushed the authorities to do something about it. I wonder if the entire family is being supported by the taxpayers.

The entire next of kin is guilty also. The children are the victims of this...hopefully there was not any sexual assult from the perverts that created them.

This is one of those times I think the government need to be a little more agressive. If kids are not in school, there isn't an outside body keeping tabs, noticing and documenting signs of abuse and neglect. Children have legal rights. If the parents (care givers)are unwilling to provide care the children should be set free. Children are not the property of the parents, they are their responsability. You can't count on the extended family to do the right thing. Social services should have been much more agressive in fighting for these children. Everyone that saw and did nothing, failed these children.

Why did it take DCS a week to return with the Washington County Deputy and detective to the house. WJHL reported on 4-29-10 that DCS had made contact with the family but the man denied the DCS worker access to the children. WJHL reports that several days went by before the children were actually seen face to face. The little girl that was in renal failure could have died. The people at DCS should also be charged.

I agree completely!!!!!!!!!! The grandmother is every bit as guilty as the parents for letting this go on. My heart breaks for these poor children and the abuses and horrors they faced every day. I pray they find the love and compassion they deserve and have been starved of. And I wish their parents and grandmother never see the light of the sun again - may they rot in a filthy jail with no food, toilet or baths. W

Theater guy, I'm glad we have one thing we can both agree on! Yes, the Granny needs to be busted right along with the rest. It's a crying shame this behavior has been culpable to only the parents, and the granny has not been held responsible. I don't know how the law interprets this, but she is as guilty as the lowlife parents. No children should be treated this way.

Charges have been upgraded to aggrevated child abuse, 5 counts. Isn't there anything HIGHER? We can only hope. These people knew what they were doing. DHS in several places had gotten close and they had pulled up stakes and run before.

They hauled granny's butt to jail today. And another woman living in the same home. Unbelievable. I knew she was defending her daughter awful hard when they interviewed her on t.v. She was ashamed of herself and was downplaying the situation. They said there was another woman living there in a trailor without electricity. I guess it would be the kids great- great grandmother? In this day and age there is no excuse for anyone to have to live like this.

So glad the grandmother was charged today - she is every bit as guilty as the parents. If the adults want to live nasiter than hogs so be it, but the children deserve better. I pray they find a good foster/adoptive home - together full of love and support

The little girl that was in renal failure also had a bite wound from a rat and it had not been treated either. I honestly don't understand people these days. May God bless those children.

Call me prejudiced or jumping to conclusions, but from the pics, these 2 are the epitome of Tobacco Road White Trash. The socially retarded exist, as this is a fine example. I'll bet the courts will indeed find them innocent because of advanced stupidity. I can only hope the children, whether they are actually belonging to the "parents" or not can be readjusted to normal society. Regardless of what we hear of foster care, anything will be better. What a shame. Granny needs to be punished under the full penalty of law. How anyone can allow their grandchildren or any children to be subjected to this abuse is inexcusable.
