Hello!
I am new to Jonesborough (actually, moving there soon) and have a few questions: 1. I am looking for an apartment, nice apartment between Jonesborough and Greeneville.(or nice mobile home park, if really nice) 2. Does Jonesborough have a newspaper of its own or a magazine, classified paper? If not where do you get your news and bargain mart types of things? 3. Without going crazy to crazy (and after you have answered my two other questions) tell me what its like in Jonesborough. Thanks, I appreciate your help. |

Judged: 1 2. There is the Jonesborough Herald & Tribune it's a small paper though. A lot of folks get the Johnson City Press. Here's a few links - http://www.heraldandtribune.com/ http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/ 3. Hmm, what's it like in Jonesborough... It's pretty quiet out in the county, farms and nice views of the mountains. In town proper there's what you'd expect, fast food places, a few local restaurants, a couple of grocery stores. Traffic can get a little congested during commute times but over all it's not bad. There's not much of a "nightlife" here, need to go to JC/KPT/Bristol for that sort of stuff. The city of Jonesborough itself is pretty small but the zip code covers a good section of the SW part of Washington County. |

It is awful cause the jail is right there which is a eye sore. The WCSD is not there to serve and protect they only protect there own not the public. That is why I moved and will never live in JONESBOROUGH again!!! They are better counties to live in.

We're glad you moved. We were tired of your pansy ass here, crying every time someone cut you off in traffic. |

I moved to Jonesborough 2 years ago. My only complaint is the traffic. I moved from a small town that had very little traffic and was not expecting all the traffic that passes through Jonesborough, but you get use to it.
As for the police, I do not agree with them hiding to catch the highschool kids on their way to and from school but on the other hand, it does slow everyone down and therefore probably helps prevent traffic accidents. My only other complaint was I received a parking ticket in town when they were working on the roads and sidewalks, the no parking sign wasn't there due to the post having been taking down while the sidewalk was being replaced. At that time I wasn't familiar with the area and felt like the ticket should have been excused. Overall Jonesborough is a quiet town that often has some type of activity going on in the old part of town. The people are friendly. And it's located close enough to Johnson City, Bristol and Kingport for shopping and other major activities. |

There really isn't all that much traffic that passes through Jonesborough. It just gets bunched up with the 30 useless traffic lights.

Jboro is great ... we live in the country, so cant speak to living"in town". Just a nice, laid back little town.

Look on craigslist in the tri cities area great rentals there. The area you are looking into is going to be far from lots of things, but if you dont mind the drive then your set. Yes, our local law enforcement does their job! If you have children county schools have horrible test scores with exception of a few. Downtown very clique small town.
