It depends. What area of law? For divorce and family law, the best in the upper East Tennessee area are Judith Fain of Erwin, Tennessee, Thomas J. Seeley, III of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Thomas C. Jessee of Johnson City, Tennessee. The best criminal lawers are Thomas J. Seeley, III of Jonesborough, Richard W. Pectol, Johnson City, Bob McD. Green, Lisa Nidiffer Rice of Elizabethton, and H. Randolph Fallin of Mountain City, Tennessee. The best med malpractice attorneys are Olen G. Haynes, Sr., Johnson City or John Bingham, Kingsport, Tennessee. The best personal injury or workers comp plaintiffs attorneys are Thomas C. Jessee, Bob McD. Green, both of Johnson City and John T. Milburn Rogers, Greeneville, TN. The best for land, realty, and probate matters is Attorney, Jim Wheeler, Jonesborough. Best Bankruptcy attorney is Margaret Fugate. Though he only practices insurance defense work, the greatest legal mind of our area is without question, Ronald W. Jenkins. That covers most of the big, general areas of law folks hire counsel for. But as you did not specify which area, those listed above are the best attorneys I know of in each of those respective areas. Good luck.

Yes, Jim Bowman is the best. He may have a weird persona, but he is well connected and gets the job done.

Bowman is by far the best trial lawyer, and his trial partner is Donna Bolton in his building downtown. You can't afford him, you go talk tk her down the hall. Her retainer isn't as much but she'a being trained by the best!

Judith Fain is the best. If your mate has been cheating or using drugs, or if you have child custody issues Fain is unbeatable. If your husband or wife has been married several times she will slay them in a courtroom. Property or contract disputes she is awesome.

Thank you, Hoot, good to know....you know all this by personal experience, or is this just hearsay opinion? Have you actually witnessed them in acton? Yes or no, please.

Hoot sounds like he is connected with some of those mentioned.
Jessee boys are over rated as is Rice and Fain and Rogers and H, Randolf
Fugate is pretty much retired and Bob Green is retired as well.
Ronald Jenkins is a very good attorney, but strange as all get out..

Anybody that hires an attorney based on what an anon poster puts up deserves what they get..........

Want to know who to hire, do your own research, talk to people that work in the courthouses, and people in the field you are in need of help in.........

How about narrowing it down to a specific offense? Otherwise, try being your own defense. You will have a comeuppance in that respect. The law and the courts have a monopoly on that outcome. Play the game.

If it's domestic issues consider Lois Schultz. Quite frankly I wouldn't trust a lawyer who is named in his own client's lawsuit. Tom Jessee got caught sexting his client. Read the articles under Tom Jessee. Pick someone with better ethics. Olen Haynes is actually honest. 6973

Ivan Lilley is a fine attorney who is compassionate and truly cares about his clients.
