I have been to both Crossfit Boxes in Jonesboro. I have been doing Crossfit in my garage for over a year. I can definitely say that the guys at Crossfit Natural State are legit. These guys know what they are talking about and are there to change people's life by bringing them into the Crossfit community. At Crossfit 870 it was not the same. I don't think they get the full spectrum of what Crossfit is about. It is more than just plastering a WOD up and having the Crossfit affiliation. I mean come on....when I pulled into the parking lot the first thing I saw was a sign that said Trim Gym/Crossfit 870. Any true Crossfitter would laugh at this globo-gym affiliation. Don't get me wrong... the instructors at CF 870 where nice but they were not near the level of the instrucotrs at Crossfit Natural State. Also, where is CF 870's website...how do I look at the upcoming WOD.....where do I post my results....how do i get involved in the community outside of the Box...come on guys really. Get with Crossfit or drop the affiliation and let the MEN at Natural State lead the way. Just my opinion which is worth as much as the next guys, but if you want to Crossfit and be part of a real community then go to Crossfit Natural State.
Crossfit 870 is apart of the trim gym, yes. But just because they are connected to an actual fitness gym doesn't mean they aren't Crossfit. Crossfit isn't about where your box is or what it looks like, it's for the workouts you do, teaching them, community and friendship. Just because their website isn't as put together as natural state is doesn't mean it's not good, what place opens up 100% put together? 870 hasn't been open up that long. They are still working on everything. Also their website? You can look at the workout of the day, it's a button you click, an you can put your results, we also write our results on a board in the gym. Crossfit 870 is a very great community, everyone is friends and they really do great at helping the community grow outside of the gym. Not saying Natural state isn't good because they are awesome but 870 is not bad at all. Crossfit 870 and natural state's trainers all had to go to the SAME certification and they all know the same. Both gyms are great and they BOTH have the sense of what Crossfit truly is.
People can have their own opinion but coming from a Crossfit trainer and someone who has seen gyms all over the country Crossfit870 is in the same level as all the other gyms in the country.

Ok...I'm not here to bash either of the Crossfit Boxes in Jonesboro. They are both Crossfit affiliates and there to provide customers with a life changing experience. However in response to previous posts regarding which Box has the better instructors, I'm going to have to go with Crossfit Natural State. Their certification credentials alone prove this. I met these guys at the Faction Games in Memphis earlier this year and got to know them quite well. According to the results, each of them placed well above CF 870's instructors...I mean...quantifiable results don't lie. As I stated previously, I am not here to bash either Box, but Crossfit is a very competitive sport and obviously these guys are serious about their results which will bleed over into their dedication to their members.
The answer to who has the best trainers is up to each individual people. No one person can say someone is better due to their certifications. ALL CROSSFIT TRAINERS HAD TO GO TO THE SAME CROSSFIT CERTIFICATION COURSE. Which means they all know as much as the other. Yeah you can get more certification in specifics like olympic lifting and football but either way they all know the same things. Yes one gym might have someone who is physically stronger but that just goes to the person. You can judge the better trainer by how strong they are or how fast, it's about their brain and what they know. Crossfit 870 trainers are very skilled in the sport and in what they teach. Both are very good gyms and both have great trainers. Don't listen to the resoning of this guy.

Okay, I can personally say that comment is completely wrong and false. Crossfit 870 has an onramp class which is very effective and it mandatory for everyone to do. On ramp is a basic skills beginners class. Everyone has to go through that before the trainer says they are able to do the regular class. Then when you get put in a regular class yes the volume will be a little more intense but I know the trainers will still help you just as much.
I'm not saying go 870 or go natural state. But these comments about 870 are false I know for a fact.
I know people who have switched from natural state to 870 and people from 870 to natural state. It's personal opinion but this topixs page is simply everyone bashing on 870.
If we want to get down to the nitty gritty and you want to look at the physical aspect of the gyms trainers then go to the Crossfit games website and search both gyms and see how the rank. 870 is higher and was the past few years and the trainers are doing great.
People need to go to the gym and get there opinion. If you don't like then that's great but don't ruin the experience for anyone else.
Grow up people.

I've been to Crossfit gyms all across the US and there are gyms connected to other gyms and other buildings such as A rock climbing wall and then a workout equipment store. But they were still good Crossfit gyms.
Any "true" Crossfitter would laugh bc it's commented to trim gym?(which isn't a globo-gym) is wrong. I'm a true Crossfitter and I didn't laugh, and I know many other true crossfitters who have not laughed. That was just a stupid comment you said.

Not to mention the story of the dude pulling a gun on a former employee there because she was having an affair with another member.

The "gun" story is not true. It was created by a desperate person trying to deflect attention away from themselves.

If you want a drama free workout without the kids, dogs and member-staff hookups then you should try 870 or 10 Fitness. For those of you who don't know, all of the trainers have went through the same certification. What's different is the environment you're in.

Also the Natural state crossfit caters to certain members and is a click (meaning that if you don't live in Sage or Ridgepointe OR aren't endowed with super genetics, don't bother, just pay your money). The members who aren't up to speed to get to compete in a competition aren't welcome and don't get invited to the 'events' they always seem to have. You're basically paying for a few very athletic members and Luke, Randy and Ben's man cave and Friday beer drinking. But if you like doing your WOD while drinking Miller High Life and puking, then that might be the place your you. If you want a professional environment, try the other two options.

How are non-clique members treated during the normal day to day workouts? Do they get as much attention as other members get?

So we gots beer, kids, pets and I'm assuming weights in one setting? Not a good scenario. So how much is the liability insurance for something like that? Not to mention child services. Pray somebody don't get a video of that crap. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.

You need to stick to knitting if you're not a member.

Beer, pets, kids and weights in one room sounds like a liability issue. What's the insurance on something like that?

Tried your XFit 870 and the Nat State one. The 870 was the biggest and more like what I'm used to. It was clean and a had a good WAD coach. The other was small, hard to find and really put-offish. I got the vibe that it was the 'meat market' mentioned before. It was creepy. After reading these posts I think the 870 is definitely better. Cute that both of these gyms are a play on words.

I was once told that, "Dogs don't bark at parked cars." This thread is filled with drama. Some people eradicate it from their lives and others thrive off of it. Moral of the story: if dogs are barking you must be in motion on a path to righteousness.

We lift and slam bars, drink beer, love dogs and eat homemade cookies. At the same time, we read and watch anything that will help us and the gym grow as athletes and travel to every seminar and cert possible to gain even more knowledge. Work hard, Play hard.
