i would hope that every voter takes the time to find out about the candidates from reliable sources before they vote. each one has a web site or a campaign headquarters where they would be happy to discuss anything.

Far and away, the most important qualification isn't even on the list: INTEGRITY

I don't know which to vote for. I think you have to have most of them. I'm glad Harold Perrin has all the important ones!

Everyone should educate themselves on every candidate in the race. Things in Jonesboro will not get better if you just vote for the name you recognize, or someone you went to school with, or even someone who is a friend of a friend.

Learn what qualifications each one has, or doesn't have. Call their political headquarters and talk to each candidate. Watch the debates and make your own decision. listen to people who are in the know that you trust to be educated on the candidates.

I hope our next 4 years are better than the last!!

Go to the City Council meeting tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008. 6:30PM at the Huntington Building on the corner of Monroe and Vine.

Be there to see and hear for yourself, or keep quiet about what happens.

we had better get a mayor that knows what he is doing. I think a background in finance and ability to handle employees is important. I don't hear much about the latter. Doesn't anybody realize that the mayor is over several hundred employees?
A good disposition is a must, i would think.
A bad attitute would get us back where we are now.
So, far, Harold Perrin is the only one who even comes close to being qualified.

Certainly managerial skills are a must, but without good moral charcter, ethics and integrity, all the experience and managerial skill won't add up to the right person for the job.

Still, Harold Perrin is the only one who has all those qualities as well.

He may very well indeed. I wasn't speaking about any candidate's qualifications in particular, but rather just qualifications in general.

I'm sorry if I left the impression that I was speaking about any candidate in particular.

I believe we often times vote people into office for the wrong reasons. Leadership is critical, and there are certain qualities and characteristics that are vital to good leadership. My view is that we should base our decision on those vital qualities and characteristics.
