I'm just glad I got out of Ridge Pointe when I did. Adam told me it was all about to fold up and looks like he was right. Now to see if the residents want to pay a minimum of $2,000.00 a year POA dues just to go to the golf course. A lot will want to pay it but there are a lot that can't afford it. It is about to get very interesting if the Country Club deal don't happen. All I can say is good luck and get out while you can...

I have been hearing the same talk that Rick posted. We can't afford a $2,500.00 house payment and then even more to keep the golf course up.

Speculation is a waste of time. Chances are Investors will buy the country club and homeowners property values will continue to increase. My guess is it be a win/win for everyone.

Sorry it's not apartments, it's very small condo's. Also rumor has it that the Jonesboro Country Club is checking into the purchase of the course. I believe the driving range is where the condo's may be built. Also from a good source a day care center will be opening this summer in the clubhouse.
JCC isn't buying Ridgepointe. They are in debt too and even with 10,000 members they haven't paid off the new club house or the recent renovations to the greens. Now they are going to redo all the greens again. Not to mention they need a new A/C system for that huge club house. No room to be buying another property, especially one that can't support itself

Ridgepointe began to decline when they added the high density housing and then the townhouses and condos. I see the 'signature' southern antebellum house is back on the market overpriced. That home typifies the paradox of Ridgepointe. It is a great concept home but has no yard and a small kitchen. More show than practicality. Having homes from $200,000 up to $2,000,000 is zany real estate. The developers cashing in defeated the concept that made Ridgepointe such a nice place originally. Unless this over-development was the plan all along.

Who do you think took over the development when Tyrer, Coy Mac, and Caldwell couldn't make it run? Well, he chopped up the lots and made it what it is. The number of houses for sale out there over $850,000 is way more than this market could ever bare. Some of them would bring the price if your neighbor wasn't able to look,in your pool or bathroom window while taking a leak. I'm not a property owner, but I am a club member and I hope there is some way for it to all work out.

I agree. Before retiring,I worked for a long time as a nurse. My first husband and I had always wanted a certain well known sports car, and, after doing the math,we bought it.
My supervisor treated me like dirt when she found out I had that car.Made smart alec remarks and innuendos about payment book, etc that had jealous written all over them. One day I'd had enough, and,I informed her that we didn't HAVE a payment book (back then, you could buy a car like that for $12K) and,all she had to do was save up her nickles and dimes, and, she could go buy herself one too since she sure talked about it a lot.
That shut her up.

Hear they are having an important meeting this week concerning the golf course. Something about the residents having their POA dues raised considerably to help keep the course open. Also heard the golf pro out th has already left.

Really? Seriously? There are many who don't consider themselves elite, or act as such. Here is a clue, there are far too many such as yourself that think too highly of themselves. Some so highly that reality escapes them on a regular basis.

Reality - there hasn't been a break even operation in place since it opened in what 1993? Primary reason too many egos in such a small place. Chef Ron was the best they ever had and they ran him off. Consistency has never been in place in any part of the business operation. The fact that Mr. Fowler has "officially" been at the helm for the last several years, one would have thought that food consistency/quality would have been fixed. It's been a lost cause in my book for years. The golf course and it's greens keeper is the only consistently good thing about the place. Tracy is good at his job and hopefully the new owners will recognize that.

Well, only those living in the VV school district are actually "elite".

I hope it opens up as apublic course. I hope I hope. Seems like awaste of money to keep it closed to members only. Eventually members stop paying, and you have to open it up.

If JCC renovated their clubhouse why does it fell like you just stepped onto the set of Caddyshack? That carpet is circa 1981.

All I know is that there are a lot of houses for sale in Ridgepointe for whatever reason. A friend of mine just bought a house there that they were asking $600,000 and they ended up getting it for half that much. It appears that a lot of people's wants are bigger than their wallets.
Great for them, they should now be able to afford the assesments coming.
