You should probably look into playing a MUD in your spare time. You may find it to be an easier alternative.

if you want to be lame and never find a girl who doesn't crack mirrors, go ahead and play dungeons and dragons. you aren't vin disel, you can't get away with it. go outside and have a real adventure instead of being an idiot and sit in your house acting like you're doing something great. hell, maybe just throw a football around once in a while.
wow.... allrighty then, So throwing around a football equals success? I played D&D for the biggest part of my life. I'm happy I spent those years playing a game I enjoyed with friends that I now consider my family. I wasn't an athletic kid. I wasn't the most popular kid, although I did have friends outside of gaming. I really didn't play many video games, I still don't. But, I also didn't go out and party like most of the football players. I did spent an exorbitant amount of time studying. When the football players were dropping out, or getting kicked out for partying, I continued studying, and playing D&D as a hobby, with friends. I never lost my scholarship. and Graduated with honors, I continued to grad school, playing D&D the whole time. Now I have a 6 figure salary, a wife who loves me( and I think is smoking hot) and a couple of wonderful kids, all because I didn't really throw around the football, and didn't care about getting picked on in school. My fellow alums, mainly the athletic kids, most of them are now working for barely above minimum wage, married to someone who probably peaked in high school. But dude, continue throwing around that football, and calling someone who does something they enjoy, that is not the norm, lame, laugh at them, you might be mowing their yard one day. as for VV student, look at Geektopia or Galaxy, they're good people, and they could point you in the right direction.

I played many years ago and I was just going through all my stuff because I am getting ready to move. I think It's about time to sell everything. I DM'ed a group of 14 for three years and we wrote most of our own quests. I have a long list of D&D stuff if anyone would be interested. if a group went in together and bought it you would have plenty to play until long after you are sick of the game. Of course everything I have is from 1st and 2nd edition and the rules have changed some since then but if you know what you are doing that wouldn't matter. I have 3 Forgotten Realms world boxed sets. The Ruins of myth Drannor box, The Ruins of Undermountain 1 and 2 boxed sets, 3 Ravenloft boxed sets, Dragon Mountain Boxed set, Battlesystems boxed set for miniature rules, and all the manuals, priest and mage spell cards, psionic hand books, and monstrous compendiums you can think of. I also have books of traps and specialized adventures that were bought seperately and some which were only found in Dungeon or Dragon magazine back in the early 90's.
And before anyone wants to start talking about the huge nerd I am, I played college baseball and later ran a traveling tournament softball team for over 10 years. I still lift weights regularly. Contact me via EMail if interested because I don't come on here often. this is probably the first time I've been on here in a couple years.

I've never played but have been wanting to try it for several years. Looking for a group of college-aged or older adults to play. Ideally every week or two during the winter months. If there are any groups like this looking for a new player shoot me an email at [email protected]

Would also be interested in other tabletop games, rpg or not.
