If you quit your job in the state of Arkansas how long do you have to wait to draw unemployment????I have never been on unemployment before .And was just wanting to know some have told me 6 weeks and others have said it was 8 weeks. I am already looking for another job but just askin You know just in case I dont find anything soon. The stress at my present job is making me sick I have migraines at least 2 times a week ,And I cant take it anymore.

Get a doctor to put you on medical leave for the migraines.Find a job while you are off.

Quitting is an automaitc disqualifier for arkansas unemployment. I have known several people that thought that there was just a waiting period only to find out that they could not draw if they quit. Your best bet is to get fired instead of quitting. You wold still have an 8 week waiting period, but at least you would get your unemployment.

If you quit your last job you won't receive unemployment benefits I'm pretty sure. you have to be laid off.

You won't get unemployment for quitting, else everyone unhappy with their job would have no reason to stick it out.

Arkansas is a right to work state. You have the right to quit at any time for any reason; conversely, you have the right to be terminated at any time for any reason EXCEPT discrimination against a protected class, retaliation for a protected complaint, and a few other reasons. If you get a medical doctor to say you have a medical problem, then under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the employer is legally required to accommodate your disability within reason. If they cannot accommodate your migraines, and you quit, then you would be covered for unemployment. Whether your employer takes doctors' excuses is irrelevant if you can prove migraines interferes with your work and is caused by your work.

I know a few losers who quit jobs to get out of paying child support. they got unemployment just took them 8 weeks to draw it. one even worked for the state and had been there years.. just up and quit one day when it looked like his loser butt would have to pay support. joke on him support can be taken from unemployment..

If you quit for cause, say the company has given you a really hard time. In my case, they kept changing my password to derogatory words and I couldn't log in to work without hearing the latest one, etc. A few formal letters of complaint to HR and I quit. I received unemployment. Arkansas is pretty tough though. Go to your HR Manager before you quit and see if they will work with you to receive unemployment before you go. It may be an easier solution for them.

I worked with the same job 7 years. I quit to relocate and get married. They refuse to give me unemployment even after an appeal. I could have shut the program down I was working with but instead I was nice in resignation. I've been off since Jan 1. They should have a time period you have been off then give it. It seems I must work 30 days somewhere then get laid off before I can draw on them. Is this correct?
