I just moved from Cabot to just north of Brookland. I am looking at joining a golf course and Paragould Country Club and Sage Meadows is about the same distance from my home. Could I hear some positives and negatives about both courses? I have already experienced some negatives at one, but I would like to hear the positives about both. I guess I would like to hear the negatives too since I don't want any surprises after I join.

Overall Sage is a decent course and the greens are pretty good. I have been a member there for 8 years and I have watched the greens get smaller and smaller the last 4 years. I think the ground superintendent does a good job with the fairways which is easy do, but the shoulders of the greens are really bad. The sand traps are probably as bad as you will see anywhere, but about half of them don't need to be there anyways. I have never played at PCC, but I would give Sage a grade of C. Hope this as helped.

Well let me tell you what happened to me at Sage Saturday. I went into the pro shop to pay for my golf play and get information about joining the course. The young man behind the counter seemed like a good kid, but he knew nothing about how much it cost to join. I then asked him to speak to the manager and he said he was giving lessons and probably would be all day. I went ahead and loaded up and went to Paragould and they had a tournament going on. I had to wait about an hour but they worked me in so I could play. I guess you know who got my money.

I haven't made it to PCC yet, but I did make it to Sage today. The course was just like Pro stated in his post. Looks like the greens use to be really nice but for some reason they look like they have been cut down in size. I was going to join today but the guy in the pro shop couldn't answer any questions regarding membership. He said the manager would be done giving lessons in a couple of hours, but I couldn't wait. I guess I will go ahead and try out PCC this week and then make up my mind.

I am finished at Sage. I went into the pro shop and I was totally ignored by some smart ass Yankee. When a man named Dan and evidently his wife walked in you would have thought he owned the course. Then again maybe he does own it.

Same thing happened to me last Tuesday, but it was a resident that lived out there I assume.

Golf course was decent, but they need some marshals on the course. I witnessed not once but twice men urinating in open sight. One group was having golf cart races.

I hear one particular board member wants to keep information from the residents and that is why most quit. Think about it, he has served for years and no one else ever stays on the board. Something has got to be up with that.

The ground superintendent is doing a fine job with the course, but as a resident I want to know if the Golf Manager is doing anything to increase golf membership? He sure seems to give a lot of lessons.

I was told by some friends who are also black that the people at Sage are super nice and would treat me no different than anyone else. Well the guy in the bar was super nice and even fellow golfers said hello, but it was almost like I had to make the man in the pro shop talk to me or ask if he could help me. I will go back because everyone else was super nice like I was told.

Don't feel bad he did me the same way. From his northern accent I knew he wasn't from around here. If he doesn't change his attitude I'm sure he won't be around long. Someone already told me that unless you live out there he isn't very friendly.

I played golf today at Sage and I was wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with the sand on number 18 hole? It has been that way for a long time and you would think it would be sodded or something.

The course is in really good shape right now because all you have to do is water and cut grass. Ask come mid July and I will tell you then. I was at the last POA meeting and I had to bite my lip to keep my mouth shut. The grounds keeper said the mulch was going to be turned over and that there was plenty of mulch in the beds. Is he for real? There is nothing but weeds and bare spots of dirt throughout all the beds. I don't play golf, I don't use the pool, but I do expect the front entrance to look good. The board needs to open their eyes and get something done about this. I mean it is almost June and it looks like shit. Evidently the board could care less, they must all be golfers.
