Depends on how determined you are to stick with the job. A lot of the management sucks, but its bearable. I've been there 11 years now.

A lot of the regulars are protected by a union and cannot get fired hardly for anything at all even for costly mistakes. Management has no such protection nor the office staff.

Everyone answers to someone from the top to the bottom. Good wages out there. Unemployment is so high lots of people would like to work out there.

Be prepared to work a lot of hours. Hopefully they warned you about this during interviews and orientation. Temps get the brunt of the overtime. Also be prepared to have so many different bosses who all have different jobs so you have no clue who to go to for what.

best advice is to walk away.
after moving here a few years ago from another plant i have came to regret the decision.
consider working nights and weekends on a twelve hour basis while somebody else raises your children.
think about having bosses that are arrogant and self-serving while being complete morons about managing people and operating equipment.
i heard that a young kid almost got killed in a press a few days ago and they made him come in with his bandages on to explain how it happened. no wonder the turnover rate is high.
this could have been anyone.
think about these things then go back to school, there are tons of student aid programs available. get a degree or learn a trade.

good luck.

Quad is good place to work, people just love to complain about everythng, people complain about every damn job. Teachers complain about their jobs, nurses do, everybody does. There is great opportunity at Quad to make good money, and that's what it's all about. If you only wanna work part-time for peanuts go get a job at walmart for $7.25 an hour and learn what working for real corrupt management is like.

They're supposed to tell you in your interviews about the potential to work lots and lots of hours. If they didn't they are wrong.

I was told in my very first interview that it was likely that I'd be working several days straight and that I should be prepared. Of course, the guy who conducted my interview is no longer at the Jonesboro plant, but still. Yeah, you'll make some money, but be ready for your social life to become nonexistent.

one thing - if you go into press, and your reflexes are slow, then you will not last. You start out as press helper but they will eventually want you on the press.

Between press jobs or paper breakage, you have to catch the paper as it is going through the rollers and if you are a bit slow, it could be a mess. IMO, that is something they need to test people for when they hire into the press department - especially the older prospects.

Be prepared to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week or more likely nights, and NEVER get a day off, and don't expect to get insurance or benefits of any kind. Take it or leave it.
