When I was in college there I loved Couch's, Fish Boat, and believe it or not Carr's Grocery. Don't know if any of them are even open anymore though.

Depends on what kind of dining you are planning to do. Personally, I like Omar's Steakhouse/501(great steaks), The Brickhouse Grill (excellent chicken and pasta dishes), and Ruby Tuesday's (awesome burgers). For pizza I would say no one beats Upper Crust Pizza Company. I also think Kirin has the best Chinese cuisine in town. I hope that helps.

This topic comes up often and I am always amazed by the comments. For an out-of-towner, this information is golden. The question that should be raised and consider this as doing so... "What in your opinion (locals only please) is Jonesboro's Signature Resturant. Memphis has the Rendevous, Sikston has Lambert's, what does Jonesboro have. Chains need not apply and think real-hard before picking another BBQ-Joint.

If the question were worded as you suggested, here would be some of my choices:

Sheffield's Good food, reasonable prices

Church Street Station for lunch

Piero's (I suggest lunch b/c dinner is pricey)

501--good but very pricey
chaz

Having a selection of alcoholic beverages is part of what makes going out to dinner a pleasure. I always opt for one of the local clubs. These places tend to have better food and a better atmosphere, and you avoid the Chuck-E-Cheese crowd.

I've found that Fugi's has a STRONG ethnic flavor in their food and if your not accostomed to it, it isn't pleasing. I like Shogun's though. Truthfully, I am accustomed to Americanized oriental food so if it veers to far from that I'm taken aback. I like Tamolly's, Omar's, Colton's, Outback, and Cracker Barrel. Gotta love the Cracker Barrel. Outback is always so busy, though and many use it as a bar. One always has to wait to get in there. I'm not a fan of Chili's. I always feel like I've wasted my money when I've eaten there. My most favorite place is Ruby Tuesday's. Always fantastic food there.

What constitutes an "ethnic" flavoring? Does that mean their food is made out of ethnic people? If you take American food to Hong Kong or Timbuktu, doesn't it also become "ethnic"? Or is the term reserved for anything foreign to the American WASP experience?
