I know these are favorite threads so I wanted to add my favorite from 2 nights ago...
"We begin tonights broadcast with breaking news from Paragould, KAIT's Lauren Payne is onsite and brings us this report by phone, Lauren... Craig we are on site and have nothing to report at this time." SHE ACTUALLY F-ing said that. It's breaking news, I would guess that if there was a shooting there would be police, and then it happended on the air....
BREAKING NEWS....WE HAVING NOTHING TO REPORT. Actual words!!!!!!!!! At that point I honest to God would not have been surprised if they would have said "in other news tonight, a freeway accident in Los Angles caused massive chaos in rush hour traffic this afternoon."
How do you get a gig out there. To show up...pick a few things off the "wire" but I swear its more like they turned their computers on and googled news, print it out, read it, go to weather, where the regions only meterologist licks his finger hold it to the wind and tells us the wind is out of the south west and my grandmother's shoulder hurts so there must be rain coming. Then in sports we turn to an ASU freshman radio/tv major whose never even seen a ball and wouldn't know a first down from a slam dunk to report the areas sports news.
I am sure no one is reading at this point, but if you are and you know anything about FCC regulations....how do we start lobbying for a new network? Or how do we get Raycom to oust fat ass "better region 8" general manager. If we eat hour vegetables, get 8 hours of sleep, and listen to my 2 minutes of gasbag rantings...it will be a better region 8.
Does anyone remember the good ole days, Jack Hill, Donna (can't remember her last name), Terry Wood, and Dick Clay. It may not have been sophsisticated but it was the local news we needed.
Wait.....BREAKING NEWS from a Region 8....9 out of 10 viewers don't give a shit about what you are saying. the 10th are the old farts wanting to know if it's going to rain tomorrow (or God love my sainted grandfather, what the soysbean prices were that day).
Its all you

My DVR won't go to computer...but I did save it. I played it back twice. Breaking news...we have nothing to report! The problem....no one is surprised and this is typical!

It was Donna Dickson. Remember that even the weekends weren't so bad with folks like Jim Taylor, Vickie Newson, Trey Stafford, Craig Yancey, etc. This bunch, especially Lauren Payne, Brandi Hodges and Mitch Lilly, almost make you just wish they wouldn't even have news on. Brandy Hodges looks like she's the daughter of Mr. Ed.

Naming the old news team brought back memories. I liked it then but, never listen to it anymore. Diana D. is the last one left.

Would you rather them say "we have nothing to report" and be right, or report inaccurate information and be wrong? Take your pick.

You don't break away to a reporter in the field who has nothing to say. That reporter should have a few sentences to let the audience know why a reporter is there in the first place. To lead with "nothing to report" means that it was a non story and should have been held off until the next broadcast. KAIT is getting worse and worse and I've always been a supportive "fan" of their attempts to cover local news and events. Having the female meteorologist cooking is an awful attempt at having something to put on the air. Good heavens, is Justin Logan going to fix cars for us next to keep up the sexist stereotypes it is showing?

I'm with you. And I'd like to see her and Sarah Tipton doing the news standing up in nothing but wet tee-shirts and thong panties. Then I'd be Always Tracking - Always Watching - Always On.

Like that guy in Reno 9-1-1?

He's so funny! I can picture Chris Castleman dressed like that. Everybody else, except Justin, is too fat.

Holy $hit...I wish I could've seen that. I thought it was bad a few weeks ago when they started with "breaking news" (I think it was when they decided to file charges in the "balloon boy" case). They said a few lines and then said they would have more later in the newscast. WTF?? I mean, I get it, if they told the whole story right off the bat, we wouldn't stay tuned for the rest of their babble. What really gets me is how they always say to visit their site for more info or whatnot, yet they don't update it in a timely manner. Or the list of top stories is crap from around the world, yet the local news is buried on another page. I like the stories you can comment on (or used to be able to). I left a snarky comment which was 100% truth and got an email from the editor basically defending their stupidity. Sorry for my lengthy post, they just really irritate me :)

I have to agree. KAIT is crap these days. Diana Davis is the only talented one there. The old days with Tony Brooks, Terry Wood, Dick Clay, etc. were great. These days they hire these straight out of college kids who have no clue what the heck is going on.

Except it seems like Craig would have a very tight wedgy. That wuold be the reason why he can't turn just his head.He has to turn his whole body.Ryan would be the one with poo stains with a hairy pimple butt.Diana is a real rude mean person.I believe she broke her husbands nose a while ago.Yolanda Young is the total package.Justin Logan is great with the weather.

I'm with you, plus I want to add that I don't thin Diana Davis is talented.

I do seem to like Bob Snell and the way he reads the news, but I'm not at home to watch him in the morning.

Then, that "Beat Off with Bob" segment is seldom new. They can be interesting, but not after the 6th time.
