I worked there for a few weeks about 2.5 years ago. I was never drug tested and I don't remember a background check. Just the normal "where have you worked before" thing. I have heard that they now drug test, but it may just be random.

I don't do drugs, and it matters to me. I wouldn't apply, nor work at any place that required me to do a piss test.

then you dont want a job too bad, because most places do a drug test. if you dont do drugs, whats the big deal? refusing to take a drug test makes you look like you do drugs whether you do or not. if you need a job stop being a bad ass and take the damn test.

Just about any job that pays worth a damn is going to drug test. If you are clean, I don't see what the big deal is. If you don't like it, it doesn't leave you with very many options besides a fast food place.

You people who see no problem with a drug test, especially if one isn't on drugs, don't value your liberty very much. No wonder the country has gone to hell, with much freedom lost. You don't deserve any, and you'll not have it.

That rumor has been going around for a while and is not helped by startek closing other north American sites while opening mega sites in the Phillipines and Costa Rica

I value my liberties and freedom greatly just as I value those same liberties for a private company. If a private company wants to administer a drug test prior to hiring an employee that will represent the company, then that is their right. If you disagree with a private company giving drug tests, then you have the freedom to apply to the ones who do not give a drug test. If you can't find one, then tough shit, obey the law, stay off drugs, and don't try to bring down the rights of private companies.

Never said that private companies shouldn't have the right to test for drugs, if that's what they want to do.

But, seems to me that anyone who would support the right of private companies to drug test, would also support the right of people to do drugs.

it has nothing to do with someone wanting to do drugs they asked a simple question if they did the test so they knew how long it would take for them to get it back maybe they are trying to leave a shit job and need to know how much of notice they need to give or how long they are stuck in that shithole

Well, the way the original poster wrote the post suggests two requests.

1. Do they drug test and/or background check?

2. How long does it take to get on up there?

Two separate questions that may or may not be related.

To the original poster, it has been over a year since I was there. At the time I was hired (at startup) they did background checks only. By the time I left, they would drug test those they suspect if using.

It takes a week or so once the process has started. They complete background checks and drug screens.

The new contract was for 6 months instead of the normal 2+ years. It is a great place to work but they have made several changes, most are negative. If you are looking to promote or start a career, I would look elsewhere.

So you say that he fooled around with you but in your original statement, you said that doing so was a way to get promoted. That is false since he has no authority to do so. In addition, his recommendation may actually work against you.

Your other statement that he is HIV according to some is also slanderous and paints you in a negative light now considering your 'involvement' with him.

Considering your track record, I think I would not be spreading rumors about things to slander someone's name.
