I'm looking for a church in Jonesboro that welcomes visitors. I've been trying to find a church and everybody seems to act like visitors don't belong there. There seems to be the obligatory 2-3 people that say hi and glad you're here, but what's wrong with everybody else. I know I'm an outsider to them, but it sure is uncomfortable to be treated like that even after visiting several times.

Have you just visited one church? Jonesboro has several denominational and non denominational churches.

I know exactly what you mean. When I lived in Jonesboro, I visited two baptist churches and felt very unwelcomed. Not one person would talk to me - not even to say hi or welcome. If you want to know the churches, do a search on this topix because I already posted my experiences years ago.

You need to go to Shepherds Heart. The people there are very friendly and the atmosphere is like one big happy family. The pastor is a man of God and truly concerned for people doesn't matter if they are members or not. It is not a large church I would say around 150-200 and they make you feel welcome and at home. The first time I went I was nervous but as soon as I stepped thru the doors I knew I had found my church and you could feel the love of God and the love of the people. Good luck and I hope you will at least visit, I think it would be well worth your time.

That is the kind of church I am looking for. When I attend, after the service, TOO MANY people want to to be on this committee or that committee, etc.

All I want is to attend and be left alone.

And stay off my front porch!

Its such a big church on the outside but the love thats on the inside makes you feel like you are with family.there are 4 different services for a time that fits your needs. You will find many people that will reach out to you and welcome you! So sorry that no one has made you feel welcomed and if our church was one of them then shame on us. our pastor does encourge that you fill out our welcome card so we can reach out to you and your needs in any way possible and also to stop by at the visitor center to recieve more information about our church.I hope you find a wonderful christ centered church! God bless you!

been going to central for about six weeks. before that my wife and kids had been going to a different church without me. i didn't go with them because there were too many at that place that tried to interfere with our personal life.
i went to central the first time with a friend, everybody was friendly but not pushy, since then my family and my wife's family have been going there.
i don't go there to socialize or get pats on the back, i go to learn about the bible and salvation.
I'm sure that anybody can find what they need at central baptist.

I would like to invite you to come visit Ridgecrest Baptist on corner of culberhouse and powell (right off southwest drive). Morning worship on sunday is 10:30. God blessed me with a wonderful church family.

Searching, I know how you feel. I think the problem is that people become so comfortable in the church and they all have their own jobs. Some are shy and don't have good people skills, others don't want to bother or overwhelm the visitors. You might try asking on Facebook or at work or something where your friends go and visit with them. You might also try the smaller churches in town. Good luck!
