Why not? We have the filth that fills the regular churches.

All sinners are welcome in church. Not one sin is greater than the next. Whether it be theft, stealing, adultery, drunkenness, homosexuality, lying, murder or whatever. A sin is a sin and everyone is welcome into the church because we are all sinners in need a savior. Turning people away from church is also a sin as well as condoning behavior that is considered sinful.

While we're at it, why don't we start a murderer-friendly church? Or a animal abuser-friendly church? Ooh, ooh...I know...! How about a "Jonesboro Church of Thieves!?"

A sin is a sin is a sin. We go to church to try & repent of sins, not flaunt them.

Unlike you, some people do not find homosexuality as a sin. For one, homosexuality is a "moral" sin in your eyes. Murder, stealing, and robbery is not a moral issue. That is something totally different. Killing someone is taking away an innocent life. Stealing or robbery is hurting others. How is someone living a same-sex relationship life hurting you? Just because you don't agree with it, that doesn't mean it's wrong. Maybe we should protest and hate people who smoke. That's a sin. Let's hold up signs that say we hate Bill Clinton because he cheated on his wife. Oh no! We let him be the President of our country. Come on! Get real, people.

It doesn't matter if you asked who was for it.....this is Topix you will always get more negative input than you would positive input. I personally don't care if you want to start a gay church or not to me it's your personal right but you can't expect to post something like this on topix and not draw the attention of the cowardly wolves on this forum.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is also gay friendly, but I'm looking for a more evangelical or modern church to attend. Something like non-denominational or so.

Gays need church like any other sinners do. The problem lies in the idea that "it's ok to be gay" or "it's no big deal." If you are a Christian while also claiming to be a homosexual you should feel the conviction to turn from your sin, not pretend like it's ok. The bible is pretty clear about a man not lying with another man. God loves everyone but your kidding yourself if you think it's ok to be a gay christian. It's like being a self proclaimed alcoholic and wanting to spread the gospel, kind of hurts your witness.

Gays are welcome to church but you can't be an active christion and be gay. God flat out tells that all gays will go to hell. Not my words (Gods). But like someone else just said you go to church to repent from the sin. And yes it is a sin. Don't take from me read about it.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (New International Version)

9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

There is nothing holding gays back from going to church, but a true Christian church won't treat them like their lifestyle is ok. They will try to help them to see what they're doing is wrong. Sad thing is, there are too many "churches" that will do anything to get more butts in the seats.

That is quoted from the NIV which is well-known for leaving out scripture. Read that in the KJV. Where your Bible reads "homosexuals," the KJV says, "abusers of mankind with themselves," which means prostitution. Read the original Greek and Hebrew scripts. It is talking about abusining your body by prostituting it. And as for the scripture in the Old Testament that says if a man lies with another man, they will both be cast into hell, why don't you read all of that passage. It also says that disobedient children should be stoned to death. Women that cheat on their husbands should be stoned to death. We are not to eat pork. And if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding day, she should be taken before the city and killed. We don't take those scriptures literally now do we? This is another great example of picking and choosing what scripture you choose to follow.

If homosexuality is a sin, why do we only bash gay men? Show me a Bible verse that says two women shouldn't sleep together.

Make no mistake, homosexuality is an abomination before God. Is it the only sin, no. Is it the worst sin, no. But it IS a sin! A true born-again Christian by definition will turn from there evil ways and follow Christ. Is it that easy, no! It is a daily struggle. I am a Christian who struggled for years with a smoking addiction. But I worked at kicking it and with God's help I succeeded. I struggle daily with lust, greed, envy, gluttony and a host of other sins but I do not flaunt those sins and simply stop trying to overcome them by saying "Oh, it's ok, God made me this way. Hey, let's start a church that will accept me the way I am." No, I work daily to overcome my temptations, and with God's help I will succeed.
It is not possible for one to be a truly saved Born-Again Christian while living and practicing a gay lifestyle. It is not an acceptable lifestyle in God's eyes and it should not be an acceptable lifestyle in our eyes. Now, before you say that I am "playing God" or "how would you know, you're not God" remember this. We have a book that God provided us as an instruction manual for life, it is the Holy Bible. And while it has been interpreted and translated throughout the years it is very clear that several times the Bible speaks against homosexuality. So my question to you is: How do you know that God will accept practicing homosexuals into heaven? Have you talked to Him about it? What did He say? Did you make a case for yourself and get Him to change His mind?
If you are having trouble dealing with homosexual temptations I am sure there are many good churches out there that would be happy to help you with counseling and support to help you overcome your sinful desires. You would be welcome, but you could not continue practicing a homosexual lifestyle choice.
