Anyone else noticed all of the vacant blighted, houses that are sitting empty, and all of the homes for sale?
Block busting at its best. There will be zero decent neighborhoods here, except the million dollar neighborhoods in a matter of years.
People working to pay their mortgages the honest way will not stay in neighborhoods where they are not safe, and or have to look at all if the eyesores.
Jonesboro is going down the tube, soon to be primarily filled with primarily HUD and welfare homes.

The population increase is from criminal types, drunks, druggies, prostitutes, you name it.

Everyone else has already gone elsewhere or is looking for a better place. Everyone I know is looking for a place with no neighbors. Too bad there isn't a decent-people-only neighborhood. Too often, though, that's going to mean older adults only. Decent parents with decent kids are an endangered species in Jonesboro.

Thank the realtors for block busting Jonesboro.
We have shady trash that has now moved into our neighborhood and you can't even go to the mailbox or take your trash to the curb without them doing the: what are YOU looking at, get out of MY territory stare. So it begins where no one even wants to go outside anymore. Working, paying people pack up and leave, leaving the homes to be gobbled up by the realtors, banks, investors. Another hood is born. Just what Jonesboro needs.

I will be glad when the loophole is closed against slum lords, and their tax break home purchases.

I 'm moving to Corning next month. I can't wait! It may not have the shopping places and restaurants, but it's a neck of a lot safer!

I have also noticed that all of the neighborhoods have an abundance of homes for sale or rent. Future HUD rental property. I would sell and get out now while your homes are still worth something.

What part of Jonesboro are you talking about? The growth from the University all the way to Paragould is booming. Property values are increasing and the area is adding hundreds of good paying jobs at the new hospital. Jonesboro is having a growth rate of about 20%. White flight happens in every city that begins to approach 100,000 in population. You can't control it, you just have to be smart and know what signs to look for to either up your security or move to a better neighborhood. Bono and Brookland areas are the place to go.

Actually, as of July 2011, Craighead County population is just under 97,000. The question in the original post was where is everyone in Jonesboro moving to? The answer is pretty simple. With Jonesboro city population at 67,000, around 30,000 have moved on the outskirts of town within 10 miles of the city. White flight has been taking place for nearly 2 decades because smart people saw the decline within the inner city in the early 90's and moved out to buy cheap land and their dream home. The growth of Jonesboro is booming and with the good will come some bad. You have to be smart and recognize the areas that are least likely to decline over the longrun.

How about someone building a super cool place North of town to attract all of the bad, and criminal element, and at least getting them out of all of the neighborhoods?
Build them a high rise, with their own super luxury pool, basketball goals, a Wal-Mart Super, and whatever else they desire.

You proved my point Jonesboro does not have a 100K population. With your line of reasoning Wichita KS which has an official population of 384,445 and in the "metro area" has close to 1 million if you count other towns such as you are.

Do you even have a point? You haven't contributed one reasonable response to the original post. What does Wichita Kansas have to do with this again? White flight sets in when a city reaches 50,000 in population. As the city gains population, the surrounding communities have growth and as the city slowly approaches closer to 100,000 (yes, Jonesboro will be there within 20 years) the inner city crime increases driving more and more people to the outskirts of town. It happens to every city with a population of 50000+.
