Mrs. Brown was not murdered. A teenage boy beat her with a hatchet in the head, but I remember seeing her after and she had a lot of scars on her head.
Thanks for refreshing my memory. I was pretty young when this happened.

Let's get off the Cooksey/Niesenbaum murders. Who remembers the Gary Evans case? He was convicted in 2004 for a murder he committed in 1977. He killed a night watchman during a drug store robbery in Bradford I think. He was from Jonesboro. Also, the Elliot family killing in the summer of 1971 was another case the stunned Jonesboro. Apparently the Elliot father had been abused his wife and son for years, when finally the 16 year old son had enough and shot his father.
his name was Willie

In Bullock conviction, Investigator Rick Thomas with S.O. was a detective with the JPD and was the one who cracked the case on the Cooksey and Niesenbaum murders, received a commondation from the F.B.I. because of it ! Rick was THE best investigator and still is !!

Does anyone remember a case around 1982 where the accused Sammie Hicks Dulaney (he was from walnut ridge area I believe), he kidnapped and raped and nearly beat to death a young woman from brookland. He was arrested by JPD and released 3 days later no charge were filed that I can find. But in 1989 he again committed kidnapping & rape and this time was convicted and is serving a 30 yr sentence in texas. I cant find any info on the 1982 incident but i know the family of the young woman kidnapped.
