I want to know if there is anyone who has been to new clinic in town that uses phentermine in their weight loss program. I know there are people who don't agree with diet pills and I respect that..but I would like to hear the details from people who have already been and how they treat you..what are this clinic's requirements to qualify for them..cost..etc..I have never been to the clinic in Memphis but I hear it may be similar..if so, in what ways?? Thanks so much!!

Girls up front were not too friendly but the doctor was nice. There was not a lot of people there when I went, but they were very slow at calling people back. It took me an hour and a half and I did not get my lab done or talk to the nutrionist before I had to leave.

It is across the street from the Turtle Creek Mall off of Highland Drive. It is $45 for the office visit and they require blood work the first visit which is around $36. You take the prescription to a pharmacy of your own choice to be filled. It is Dr. Cannon's Diet Program.

$45.00 for the office visit and $36.00 for the blood work...$81.00 total not including your prescription.

I've heard from alot of sources that this drug is known for causing heart and lung problems and can be addictive. Has anyone who tried it had any side effects?

I think it is addictive. It is only to be used for shorter periods of time. Like I said, I took it about 6 years ago...haven't taken it since. I work 2 jobs now and can't get to the gym like I should. I put on about 20 pounds in the last year! I am taking this med and eating proteins, avoiding sugar, smaller meals more frequently and taking a multivit just to make sure I take care of myself. I think when you diet, anyone can take it too far...that is why this med is so HARD to get. You aren't supposed to take it if you have a history of a heart prob....it really gives me alot of energy. Normally when I would be colapsing on the couch, I am up cleaing or doing something...busy.

I wonder if this is like the doctors diet center in dyersburg. They don't do appointments and are open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The same doctors staff it that are in the Memphis clinics.

I went in on a Tuesday when they opened. Took a little over an hour for my first visit. I feel like they aren't too strict about who they will or won't give it to, but they did make me have an EKG (or EEG?....can't remember) to check my heart rhythm because of a family history of early heart problems.

Here's how it went:

I filled out paperwork. They called me back to weigh & measure me. They drew blood (1st visit only). I got a B12 and lipo shot. It's free the first time you go. I talked with the doctor for a few minutes. Had the heart rhythm test, then I had to sit thru a little talk by their "nutritionist." She's basically only trying to push products because I honestly felt like I knew more about nutrition than she did.

I guess the reason I felt like it was a little shoddy was they insist you have the bloodwork done, but they give the rx to you anyway before they get any results. Strange to me....

Anyway, I got my rx. KMart is the cheapest place in town to get it filled.$12.95 for a 30 day supply.

I had said I wouldn't go back, but I guess I'll see how I do on the med. I might lose enough weight that I want to see past the things I didn't like about the clinic. Shallow, I know.
