Yeah! Folks, it is once again time for that annual tradition in Jonesboro. Pick the coldest night of the year so far and get everyone to line up along Main St. freezing their buns off to watch the wonderful 45-60 minute ROLLING COMMERCIAL featuring all of the fine businesses and industries in our community. Can't wait to see how many 18-wheelers, tow-trucks, ambulances and radio station vans we will have this year!
Seriously...can we not get some decent floats...seriously?!

You nailed it! Why would any group or organization get out in the cold and go to the time, trouble and expense of building an actual float knowing that all their effort would go unnoticed in what amouts to nothing more than a traffic jam? My co-workers and I used to spend several nights after work each year... and lots of money!... trying to come up with an attractive float that actually followed the theme and the rules set forth by 'the powers that be', but when the 18 wheelers started taking over the show and Frito-Lay got more TV coverage than Santa Claus, we, along with lots of other small businesses and organizations dropped out.

Rumor? I heard Taylor Swift was going to be on a flat-bed with John Lennon and Elvis.

Be proud of your parade. We moved from a town not far away that has a cement truck and garbage truck decorated as floats!

Yep it pretty much sucks now.I do remember when it was kind of good and the people did make floats and the kids would throw out candy and stuff from them. They also use to judge who had the best float and so on.But does anyone know why they stopped doing it on Caraway or did it just get so small/pathetic.I know people say how wonderful Jonesboro is suppose to be well if it's so wonderful why don't people put on a better Christmas Parade for the kids "like the person said about with FLOATS and stuff" instead of this let's see how we can get more money from these people.

This is the last year it will be called "Christmas Parade." In the spirit of diversity, next year it will be called "Northeast Arkansas Winter Procession." There will also be a much greater variety of floats involved, as well as help from some federal agencies to ensure that the procession is the best it can be. I'm looking forward to it!

That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. There is only one reason we celebrate Christmas, and it has nothing to do with floats, candy, or winter. Has everyone forgotten that the celebration is not for our own selfishness but instead for the birth of a savior?

We tried to enter a float the day of the parade, and the guy at the Jaycees office said they couldn't work us in! Figure that one out

In an attempt to help out the less fortunate that couldn't recognize satire if it kicked them in the butt, the post below was a joke people! Don't go running to your preacher wailing about those commie pinko left-wing liberals forcing a change on the Christmas parade.
