What do you think about this medicine? Does it treat pain? Is there a possibility for addiction? Looking for a med to assist with my RA. Something with minimal "opiate like" effects, but with all the pain relief. Not wanting to get high, just want relief. I don't want to take hydrocodone or anything like that, I do not want dependency.

My dentist gave me Tramadol for a severe toothache. It made me itch at first, and made me feel a little buzzed. It did help with the pain, but I eventually had to stop taking it. After a couple of days the itching went away, but after a couple of hours in my system, it seemed to mess with my blood-pressure. It would even wake me up at night feeling strange.

I understand the drug isn't supposed to be strong, but it had a strong effect on me. And I didn't even take but two a day (or less) and I was allowed four a day. I still have more than half a bottle.

I've taken both for nerve pain and i can tell you that tramadol makes you feel good just like hydrocodone does. The only difference is that hydrocodone is natural and tramadol is synthetic.
I don't know what you're talking about when talking about a high off of hydrocodone. I've never felt a high from either and the only thing that either has ever done is relieved pain....but then again i've never taken more than the recommended prescribed doses though....i guess it all depends on the person.
Any medication, natural or synthetic can be abused.

Tramadol (ultram) is just a little bit stronger than Tylenol. Not as effective as hydrocodone, but can relieve minimal aches and pains. Used in the elderly a lot so they don't get loopy from the hydrocodone.

Tramadol doesn't treat pain at all! It's used to tranquilize equines before they have sexual preference surgery. I would NOT take that. You should report that dentist to the AR State board

Tramadol relieved the pain better and lasted longer and made me more loopy. Tramadol is way better.

Tramadol is a pain reliever prescribed by doctors. Why report a dentist for doing their job correctly?

Yall have got to be kidding,my dr said it is not adictive. I believe he called it a non narcotic. I have gout and it hurts me so bad. I dont want to be adicted to anything. Is there anything yall know of that would treat gout and not be adictive? Im not elderly but close to it. Im 63 years old and not getting any younger. I cant take anything that has asprin in it because i take blood thinner. And heart medicine and blood pressure medicine, they had me on hydrocodeine at first, and it made me sick at my stomach, then they gave me a round pill that was white and it had the numbers 512 on it if im not mistakin, those helped but put me to sleep,i got work in the yard thats got to be done,so i told my dr,so he put me on the tramadol pill yall are taking about, its not taking all the pain away, but it helps just enough that i can be on my knees in my flower garden. But like i said,im a bit old fashioned and wont be on adictive drugs.
