Why haven't we been discussing this?

The House on Monday gave final passage to the four bills, which:

• Limit gun magazines to 15 rounds.
• Require background checks for all gun transactions.
• Ban concealed weapons on college campuses.
• Impose a fee for gun buyers to cover the cost of their background checks.

Democrats hold a 37-28 majority in the House — where 33 votes are needed for passage — but only one of the bills, the universal background check, passed with a margin close to the Democrats' majority.

This is like, a major setback for those saying it would never happen ..... wouldn't you agree?

Hey Louse! The States CAN pass any "color of law" statues they want.

If you can't deal with a State law (statute) you can move to a more favorable State.

The FEDERAL government would be in violation on so many fronts.

Didn't they also approve funding for buying all of the women in the state free whistles?

Well,..... I really expected more from the gun experts here. Apparently this Colorado thingy caught all of you by surprise.

I'll try to do better in the near future on keeping us all updated on various law passages concerning these issues.

I have been away for a few days only to return to find threads from 2008, 09, and '10 floating to the top of page 1. It was beginning to look a lot like Paragould's board up in here.

I just don't think I'm appreciated enough.

In other words, all that chatter about "it'll never happen", could mean that "when it happens" the gun pushers will go to where they feel the safest. Downtown Barney'sville, USA.

Running to shelter seems to be the trend lately coming from the "cold dead hands" people.

Gun Control is about one thing and that's control kind of like obamacare. All they want to do is take away more rights from Americans.

With all the millions and millions of guns and high capacity mags, in our country what good will it do? The government can't get them from all the gangs and people like that because no one knows where their guns are at. The only guns they can get are legal guns. Gun control is not about gun control it's people control. Wake up gun control nuts.

I don't recall anyone saying anything about Colorado state law. Like i said it still has to pass the senate. I will go out on a limb here and predict a turnover of partisan majority in the upcoming elections there in CO.

All this "it'll do no good" stuff is childish and merely the squirmings of a minority being outvoiced by a majority.

We tire of hearing you gun addicts whinning about your rights when you are vastly outnumbered by people who wish for their own rights to be honored.

If you gun packers can't get past your lifelong desires to shoot someone before you die, then we'll see to it that your dream is harder to fulfill.

If you're sleepy, go to bed.

No new gun legislation has been enacted as of yet. You should know that in order to qualify to participate in this discussion. Your lack thereof, only proves you came unprepared.

HOWEVER!

There have been comparible measures taken in new York City over the past few years that have yeilded success stories.

"Gun violence in the Big Apple has declined by 8.4 percent",...

http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20121226/new-...

Mayor Bloomberg is a billionaire who has dedicated his time and resources to this fight on our team. He could buy the NRA tomorrow and shut it down.

Too much violence. Too much killing. Way too much. This is the united states of america. Not some third~world lawless country. Something needs to be done. Must be done. We've the resources & ability. But for some boneheaded reason refuse to do what's needed. So we let the violence & killing continue.

Are you claiming guns don't give criminals an advantage when committing crimes? The answer isn't the nra's answer which is pipe even far more guns out onto the streets for criminals to use. Normal people should be allowed to own guns. But why should it stay so easy for criminals to get them? Why should normal people have to have a gun on them to just walk in their own towns or be in their own homes? Something must be done.

Violent crime in the US has been on a steady decline since the early 90's.

You tout New york and I counter with Chicago. Some of the strictest gun laws in the country yet the highest gun crime rate of the country.

let me rephrase the question for your simple mind. Name one example of a specific gun law that resulted in a discernible difference in gun crime anywhere in the world.

Kennesaw, GA passed a city ordinance making it mandatory for people to carry a firearm unless you are a felon or its against religious beliefs. Lowest crime rate in America.
